today's the day we're leaving London. Feeling quite sad, because London is so great, so interesting, so big, so busy, you're both wanting to stay forever & also wanting to escape the wild busy-ness. Last breakfast in our hotel, right before leaving the hotel, by taxi (so much more practical with lots of bags to carry), to Waterloo Station, where we're taking a train to Southampton, where we're renting a car.

arrived in Southampton station, it's taking us a while to figure where the heck Avis (car rental) is ... and, boy, we do need another taxi to bring us there, as Avis is located at the docks, not really next to the train station ! The car is fab, big, just what we need for all our bags. (two cases - one medium, one big- one soft bag, one big backpack) Now starts the trickiest. Driving in a British car (NOT like a European car !!!), and on the other side of the road, with all the driving instincts on the opposite ! eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek ! AND ... starting right away by managing to get out of Southampton industrial estate, get the motorway, and find our way to our destination : Salisbury. That's hectic, but my husband is so ressourceful, I'm always admirative of his capacity of adaptation.
And, there, we're doing good, and managing to reach our hotel in Salisbury, the Grasmere House Hotel. (photo below is the back of the hotel)

after spending most of the day in transportations (taxi, train, taxi, car), we're leaving the hotel by foot to go to the center of this beautiful beautiful town.

and before going back to the hotel, the boys play & run around the cathedral, while hubby's reading the newspaper, and while I'm embroiderying a bit (yes yes)
