this and that thursday

this may be a good name ... anyway.

yesterday evening

french beans

U helping his dad snapping the (organic)green beans bought the previous day. Don't be too fooled, this little guy is a real devil these days, it's exhausting.

view from the microscop
one of the pieces of broken mussel shells I picked last weekend had a kind of asperity (um, not sure this is the right word, but nevermind) on the outside (the reason I picked it), and I thought it'd be fun to look at it closer with the help of the microscop. So here it goes ... (I think the tiny things in the teeny tiny holes are bits of sand)

I'm loving to draw with Microns these days. This is part of a card I made for a friend yesterday evening.

pine resin stain removal
it happened that hubby & U stained a tee shirt & shorts, with pine resin, last weekend. (ugh) I googled to find the best way to remove the stains, AND for the more earth-friendly solution too. These pieces of clothing were not highly important (or expensive, you get the idea) so I tested with not much of a heavy heart. The best solution I found was to use ... olive oil. It did sound great to me, and well, it WORKED !

let me explain how to do it, now.
grab your stained piece of clothing, keep olive oil at hand's reach (you'll need only drops of it, so don't grab the whole bottle or you'll spill it entirely !), and two pieces of paper towel. (I know, this is not very earth-friendly, but better this than using solvant, right ?)
- wrinkle one piece of paper towel, and put it under the stain (inside the clothe)
- now, once you're ready, put a drop of olive oil on the stain, and use the 2nd piece of paper towel, making rounds on the stain. Try to make it as small as you can, as you'll have a oil stain after that.
- within seconds, the stain should be gone
- now remove your newly made oil stain with a soap like Savon De Marseille or aleppo soap (the one I used here), and either handwash it or add it to your load of laundry.

with the tons of pines we have over here, this tip may come in handy many many times. I thought I'd share with you, because you may need it too.

school fete
tomorrow, if weather allows, there should have the school fete at U's school. Hubby will take care of a rubber duck fishing stand, and I will take care of a memory game stand. (a card with 5 or 6 food pictures on it, and then the children grab a basket & must remember what they need to put in their basket, they called the game the "market" game) It should be fun ! (and headache inducing ahah !)

ok, have a wonderful Thursday, everyone ! thank you so much for stopping by !

xoxo

  1. Hope tomorrow will be good sunny day for you and children :)
As it goes about pine stains I've already trained it but with pots ( I was making a pine syrup, and the pine resin was soo hard that there was no hope to remove it). I've used olive oil and heat it. Hhowever I made it because I was studying some chemistry at university and I wasn't entirely sure if I'm doing right. Know I know I was right. Thanks :)

  6. Sorry but I had to smile when you wrote that U has been a bit of a devil lately. I tend to get that with mine. One day is it the one or the other, or all at the same time... BUT never a day that none are a little monster :)
