{ Busy September }

Dish towel drying on a chair, in the kitchen

This summer both seemed long & short.
We managed to do many things we wanted to do, managed to visit some places we wanted to go, but also didn't manage to do or visit as much as we would have loved. Balancing is always the thoughest (hadn't I already said that a long time ago ?)
Well, except for swimming in the sea or very specific outdoor summer activity, all the rest will be able to be done at any time of the year, no matter the season, not matter the weather.

I have so many things I would like to do.
{ For my family } Creating, sewing, cooking, teaching things I know to my sons, sharing, doing things together.
{ For myself } Creating, crafting (in the very large sense), learning tons of new things, reading, relaxing.
{ For my friends } Creating (once again), sharing whenever I can.
{ For my shop } I have so many ideas. (as you could see with my new inspiration -well, still "My Ideas Board" until I make the second one !) So many ideas, and so little time, I know I have already said this a trillion (or a bazillion ?) times before.

Hanging on to summer, while it lasts

September ...
The month after August, and the one before October. (um, who knew ?)
The month of going back to school (at least, in France).
The third & last month of summer season.
A month of transition. Between summer & autumn. Between laziness (um, as much as parents can be lazy) of summer & busy-ness of autumn & school.
Except a few watercolors & taking photos, summer has been so-so, craftly speaking, for me. I enjoyed a lot watercoloring, and I really can't wait the next time the inspiration will strike again. But now is time for coming back to sewing, embroidery, crafting for good. Motivation to create is back (oh my goodness thank goodness), inspiration too. I am really hoping to make a shop update soon with a handful of sweet goodies. In the meantime, I manage to do things I've been meaning to do, such as baking our favorite muffins, which we've been savouring the last two breakfasts. Mornings & evenings are getting chillier, even here in the south, so they felt like very timely. I won't even talk about the heavenly scent of apple & cinnamon it left in the kitchen/living room during/after baking ... mmmm.September is going to be one of the busiest for Chris, poor man, talk about a transition for him, at work, after almost a month & a half vacations ! (they were the upside of moving back here, on the other side, he hadn't got any at all during summer 2007, when we moved to Chessy) And if it's busier for him, it means it'll be busier for me, right ? Oh well, I'll do my best to keep calm & carry on. (isn't that what they say ?!)

Just for you to know, these are *some* of the things that are on my current lists of things to do ... all mixed up in a single list here :

- learn to make Artisan Bread in Five Minute. (we've been having a hard time collecting the essential tools, but we'll soon start)
- learn to make sprouted seeds grow at home (the same for this, and we've been reading & documenting, and everything will soon be ready for us to start)
- eat healthier (started) & exercice way more regularly (started too)
- crafting for my family (such as the flannel napkins ... started, but the list could be long !)
- new pincushions, new embellished Moleskines, new lavender strawberries, new jam jar covers, bookmarks, cushion covers, napkin rings ... and soooo many more
- teach my boys things that I can do, such as speaking English, sewing or embroidering. I'd love to help them develop their imagination skills & help them find the best ways (and techniques) for expressing them, may it be writing, painting, drawing, sewing, building, illustrating, telling stories ...
- read for my own & very selfish thirst of knowledge ... I have a very special friend (both scientific & creative) from whom I learn something everyday, I'm so ever grateful to know such extraordinary persons who help me go further & help me improve myself, bit by bit. I could name a few friends of mine, but they know who they are, and anyway, all of my friends inspire me, one way or another, so thank you ALL, my friends, for always being there for me, for always hearing what I have to say, for always patting me on the shoulder, or for always kicking my bu** (oooh), because yes, I also need this. Not only your support, but your sincerity & honesty with me. You know I always am with you.

Ohlala, it's getting late over here, and tomorrow is another day. Better go to bed right now. I hope you had a glorious middle of the week. We went to visit an uncle/aunt of Chris, being on vacation at the seaside, and we went to the beach & even got to swim, how cool is that ? Probably the last time of the season. Because you know what .... it's a { Busy September } !! ;-)

  1. I love the Artisan in Five recipe! As you know, I'm not a natural bread baker. I've made lots of "bricks" LOL But, this recipe works even for a fool like me :-) We don't have a pizza stone or a pizza peel (on my wish list tho') but it bakes up just fine for me on our cookie sheets ... though I can see how both of those tools would make it easier. Just wanted to say don't let not having all the tools stop you from the recipe. We've done the cinnamon rolls and the flat bread/camping bread, too from that starter and they ROCKED!

Okay, wrote a book, sorry :-) XOXO

  4. I really need to read more as well to round out my continuing education and completely for pleasure. I think I will see if I can borrow some talking books from the library so I can listen and stitch or crochet along. I can knit and read but so far no luck with the hook.
Loved your post sonia, so full of potential and life.

  5. It is so busy I agree. Sometimes I find myself staying up later than is good for me just because I dont want tomorrow to come, and another busy day.
I love the peep at your crafts. Great fabric choices.
Mmmm and those muffins look (as yours always do) just lovely.
Hay maybe I could help you with teaching the boys english, maybe they could become penpals with Harris...just an idea, I know he'd love that as he's learning a bit of French in school. Have a think.
Must go, clean the bathroom so we can I brush my teeth, let out the dogs, and clear the laundry from my bed, seriously the chores never stop! LOL
    Take careXXX
