Caffeine free peppermint tea, yesterday afternoon

I have decided to drink less coffee. Yes, that's right. I used to drink three or four coffees (most of the time, with a touch of milk in it) a day. Twice in the morning (one with Chris, one later), one in the afternoon & one with Chris once the boys were in bed. I have decided to cut to two only, and to keep the morning ones. Last week when Chris was away, I stopped drinking the evening coffee. And yesterday I replaced the afternoon one by an herbal tea. The peppermint tea that Katy had so kindly sent us last November. {thanks again so very much, Katy !} I love mint & peppermint. The only teas I bear are herbal infusions/teas. I couldn't be a coffee lover & a tea lover at the same time. I think it'll take me time to learn to enjoy tea. Eventually I will.

Speaking of tea (wow, what a transition, I amaze myself LOL) ... yesterday afternoon I also started using the ribbons Laurraine sent me last month. I decided to use the one she had handtamped the word "tea" on it. It's just so gorgeous !I cut and sewed a white with light blue polka dots strawberry, and included a bit of the "tea" ribbon, filled them with lavender, added a blue crochetted (not handmade trim unfortunately) trim flower & organic hemp yarn & tada, a lavender strawberry ornament was born !I plan to make this strawberry a couple of friends to live with & then they'll move to the shop. :)

Yesterday morning was a bit (ahem, a lot) lazy, and spent a lot of time online. The afternoon was a bit less lazy & a bit more crafty (see strawberry), and the evening, in consequence, was super busy. (silly me) I baked a whole batch of prune + oatflakes muffins (a family favorite) & brandade turnovers, washed a loooooot of dishes, loaded the dishwasher, gave the boys a shower, fed them etc etc ... oh well, you know what I mean. Evenings can get extremely busy when you didn't do much during the day.

This won't happen today again. At 09.30am I had already hoovered, washed the dishes & unloaded the dishwasher, scrubbed (yuck) the toilets & WC's sink, had a load of laundry washed & hung. Just had the second (and therefore, last) coffee & now I'm typing this & will enjoy a bit of internet time until the moment I'll go grab the boys at school. After bringing them back at school at 01.30pm, I'll go shopping for food, and after that I hope to have a quiet & crafty afternoon again. :)

I see all of my Brit friends got a whole load of snow yesterday & most of them still have snow this morning. Ours isn't anymore for a long time now. It's cloudy & cold, but that's OK. I love any kind of weather. Have a superb day everyone, any kind of weather you may have today. xoxoxo

  3. Hi Sonia, the blue crocheted ribbon is so delicate looking, so beautiful.

I love that you're enjoying your tea, as a HUGE tea lover its always good to share in the delights and flavours with others, and a wonderful excuse to use lovely china and I see your adorable little tea strainer, so cute.

Have a good day, keep warm, keep me a muffin xxxx

  4. Hi Sonia! I love both coffee and tea- real tea, not herbal. Coffee in the am and tea at noon. I drink Yorkshire Gold from the UK- get it thru Amazon. Green tea is very healty for you so you should see if you can develop a taste for that. Your little tea strawberry is cute! I'll bet you could cover a xmas tree with handmade garland and ornaments! (((Hugz)))
PS. Visiting while Ryan's sleeping- went to bed at 7PM and it's almost 8AM now so more than around the clock! Lucky, huh? ;)

  5. Coucou Sonia! Good for you to cut down on the coffee! Ever since I was pregnant with Sofia, I usually only have one coffee a day (even if it is ONE large mug... hehe). It used to be a lot more than that before! Janne does not drink coffee at all, he never has, he says he will never be grown-up enough to start drinking coffee... lol. But occasionally we have a nice cup of ordinary tea in the evenings, which is ever so cosy :-) With a bit of honey :-) Anyways, I am off to the company meeting in France tomorrow, so à bientôt ma Sonia :-) Take care and stay warm!
    Gros bisou,

  6. Thankfully I have never been a coffee lover so cutting itout hasn't been a problem.. However my friend was getting a lot of headaches and decided to cut out caffine, which meant out with the coffee.. After a few days she was really sick she said that she feels naturally energised and thinks she went through like a detox...

The strawberry looks fabulous Sonia, you are so creative.. Today I bought a book on embroidary.. I have stitched for many years but always the basic stitches, but now I am getting more confident with hand stitching things I thought that this book may come in handy..

My mum tried out her envelope notelets and she found them really handy.... She said to say thank you for the handy hint. (mum is the real crafter lol)

The snow has all gone here now but apparently we are in for some more, and we should thank Russia for sending it to us hahahaha

    Have a wonderful day!

  7. Oooo Sonia the best of luck with cutting back on coffee. I know personally how difficult this is, and I have always failed miserably.
I did end up drinking tea, and loving it, but now I just do both :)
I must say you don't drink that much at all. I used to top 10 to 12 cups a day. ((I did usually stay up until 3 am)) I am drinking at least 5 or 6 now, and I drink tea too....
There is plenty of good tea's out there, my favourite will always be Earl Grey, but there is nice strong ones out there. I can't do the fruity ones myself, or anything minty. But then I can't even do minty toothpaste. You might like certain chai's. The ones I always got from the US are the best.

Anyways. too much talking. I got more free time again! Yayyyyyyyy!
