Do you know it's hard to find a catchy title ?!!! LOL English is not my maternal language (I'm French, for those of you readers who don't know me) so trying to sum up a whole blog entry in a couple of words is sometimes tricky ! Anyway ... good or bad, I found this one for today !
Eco-Logical ... right ... We officially started drinking water coming from the faucet (and not from plastic bottles) today. Hurray ! I had bought two small glass pitchers yesterday along with a set of 4 cider (small) bowls. Just a very small detail, but all of them were made in France & are either is glass (pitcher) or ceramic (website here). So we're still in an ecological perspective. Last year, I did my best to remove a maximum of plastic things from the kitchen, and we don't have much of them anymore now. Glass, ceramic & earthenware did perfectly the same job. But I'm digressing. Now I wonder why we haven't done that before !! Now the only thing that has to be worked on is to teach the boys to pour a small bowlful neatly. Ahem ! LOL So this is our little set in use ...
Chris' aleppo soap was coming to an end (he uses it to shave), so I changed it for a new one this morning, and kept the remnants for laundry (it's a very efficient & 100% natural & ecological stain remover, believe me, I've tested !) I'm always so happy when I changed for a new soap ... how tragic am I ? (PS : that's why I don't like to buy big sized soap ... because they last too long !!)
While on vacations, I found in a bookstore/stationer's shop 4 notebooks, made in Italy, made with recycled paper, and with such wonderful covers that I couldn't resist. (and they were not expensive, how could it be better than this ?!) I took pics of 2 of them. These are rather late summer/autumn themed, and the others are rather spring themed. See their website here.

Baking Fun now ... I had told yesterday that I would bake my yummy prune + oatflakes muffins and ... that's what I did !! I made two batches of 12 muffins (not mini muffins like I used to bake before). They are so pretty my hubby told me they could be sold in a bakery or fancy tearoom !! ahahah ! I added a bit more cinnamon than the last times I baked them (am I craving autumn or what ?!). The recipe is available here. (will open in a new window)
And still baking talking ... I also baked "pigs in a blanket" (like I love to call them with the boys) or "sausage rolls with a French southern touch" if you prefer LOL, that I "paint" with egg yolk & sprinkle with Herbes de Provence. It really did smell wonderfully while baking & the boys would come to the kitchen like attracted by the smell (like in cartoons !!)
And with a length of shortcrust pastry I had left, I made what I just named "Cheese Mummies" (like mummies in Egypt, you get it ? Funny name, hey ? I know I know, I'm pitiful ...), by winding a long strap of pastry around a piece of cheese. (I used an organic Emmental cheese) Then I painted it too with egg yolk & sprinkled with Herbes de Provence. YUM ! They both baked for 15 minutes at 200°C/400°F.
OK, it's getting late & I'm so worn out. The daily rhythm is far from being the same as during vacations ... and I'm alone with the boys & all the usual housework (laundry, dishes & tidying all the time). Didn't do a single crafty thing today ... unless you call "a craft" embellishing a parcel for my MIL ... with sunflower stamps ... (she loves sunflowers)
Almost forgot to show you how I do to make my boys eat raw carrots with hummus ... we pretend that hummus is a lady's hair ... and we get everytime a different hair-do ... fun fun ... eheh
It's just another way of seeing things, right ? From another angle ... the one of a child !
Have a great second half of the week, sweeties. Big hugs ! OXOXO
