time to start again

(this is in the heart of Montpellier - photo taken this afternoon)

that's it. School has started again, and the "walk commute" (let's call it like that) has started too. (leaving home at 8.40am, 11.45am, 01.30pm & 4.30pm) My legs & body had gotten very lazy during the holidays, ouch.

no time to get bored, this morning we had to go shopping for food, we had managed somehow (with a little bit of help of our parents giving us some homemade dishes from time to time, and of take away lunches or diners) to avoid shopping for food during the holidays. So today we really had to stock up again. And the morning was gone.

and this afternoon we went to buy new pieces of furnitures that we had been thinking about getting. (again, and always, shelf units ... never EVER enough storage in an apartment with no guest room, no garage, no attic. Never. Ever) We also got to get Apple's Time Capsule at our local Apple store, and then went home to unload that very heavy load at our place. And the afternoon was gone too.

I thought it'd be harder to go back to the school time rhythm, but I think we were good today. (but it was so darn tough to get out of the waaaaaarm bed this morning, earlier than the past two weeks !)

to close today's post, I'll show you (quite a bad photo, sorry) my first completed crafty project of 2011, red gingham "curtains" for our kitchen countertop. There used to be dark red ones (that my mom had made a year & a half ago) but they were kind of boring me now & I wanted some change. I got the red gingham fabric, let me see .... last October. Measured & cut it, let me see ... last October too. And I had then procrastinated until ... let me see ... yesterday. I told you it was time for me to stop procrastinating ... and time to start making things happen.

so please excuse the absolutely NOT ironed, newly sewn countertop curtains ... they are the first of the (I hope) many projects that 2011 will bring.

I hope you've all started your week on a busy but happy note. Wishing you well for tomorrow.

  1. Sonia, you are such a busy lady! You had told me about all the journies to school that you make but I hadn't realised just how often you go during the day. It's impressive that you manage to fit so much in between school runs. You've certainly achieved a lot today. Hope tomorrow is a productive one for you. I'll be returning to university tomorrow. x

  4. This made me think of the first little log cabin my daughter and her hubby moved into after marriage and there were NO CLOSETS! She has always been SO smart so she had my dear hubby put the plastic covered closet organizers into the logs of the walls (yep the inside was logs too that were painted with three coats of cream colored paint) after which he put a curtain rod up along that whole wall and she hung curtains like this - Closet! She recently moved from a 1150 sq ft apt to a 480 sq ft apt and did same thing. Took door between living room and bedroom down and all the folding closet door down and hung curtains - made it so nice a roomy and cozy at the same time. I'm beginning to think you would like each other.:)

  5. I love your new curtains, they look perfect ! Don't iron, the steam from cooking will press them enough. Besides, think of what else you could get done instead of ironing, like drinking a lovely coffee ;)
I love that you and C do so many of these household chores together, he's a real gem - bur you already know that :)

  8. gosh, that sky is blue!

I'm having the same problem in the morning too. Just don't want to get out of bed. It's too cold!

Love your gingham curtains. Nice to get the first project of the year completed isn't it? I've done the same myself today.
I bought pink gingham at the weekend :o) Might have to get some more, so I can make curtains for Gingerbread House.

You certainly have a lot of walking during a school week. Here when the kids go in, they're in until lunchtime or, if they have packed lunches, all day. A lot easier.

Time I was off. Have a lovely evening xx
