lickable balls

this sounds like a dirty title, doesn't it ? LOL Well, in some way, it's a bit naughty. ;-) Today's activity in our advent calendar was making chocolate truffles. We had done this activity last year, on Dec 24th, and this year, BEFORE we even started the advent calendar, the boys actually asked me if the truffles would make their re-appearance in this year's calendar !! LOL I followed last years' very easy recipe :

CHOCOLATE TRUFFLES

- 450 g chocolate (dark, baking kind), broken into pieces (the smaller the better) / I think it equals 3 1/2 cups (once chopped)
- 25 cl (liquid) cream (I used crème Fleurette) / I think it equals 1 cup
- cocoa powder, icing sugar, sesame seeds

Break your chocolate in a big bowl.
Pour the cream in a pan & bring the cream to boil.
Take out of the heat, and pour over the chocolate pieces.
Stir with a spoon.
Leave in a cool room for 2 hours if your room is chill, for 3 or 4 if it isn't really chill. (like for us !)
Pour a bit of cocoa powder, icing sugar & sesame seeds in three different plates.
Grab a bit of chocolate mixture with a spoon, make quickly a small ball & roll it in one of the three "covering" ingredients.
Place on a plate. (we prefered to lay a length of parchment paper, just in case of sticking)

making truffles - part 1

making truffles - part 2

making truffles - part 3

making truffles - part 3 bis

making truffles - the final

that's it. Now onto savoring them .... the easiest part of the activity !!

it's raining, dark & cozy today, and we won't be going to the library. And yesterday we didn't even go to the Italian deli, like I had told you. Lazy ?? Yes, probably. Homebodies ??? SO TOTALLY !

enjoy a very relaxing & fun Sunday, my friends !!

  6. Sonia, Thank you so much for fixing the recipe for me. I plan to try it when my granddaughter is here later this month. The snow is almost all gone now - but still quite cold here. Thanks again.

  10. This sounds like something that melts in the mouth and leave you completely satisfied... at least if you are a complete chocoholic like I am.
