bringing memories back

this weekend, at my parents', I found something that I had saved from my maternal grandparents many years ago. I spent my whole childhood using it when I was spending the day at my grandparents' (which was every.single.Sunday). And this past Sunday (the irony !) I digged it out of my parents' attic, where we have so many things stocked (by lack of room here). I'm talking about a French stereoscope Lestrade. This is how it looks :

it's a bit dirty, but I'll clean it soon (when I'll have the time). My grandparents used to buy a card during a trip, so I have a handful of them of their visits (mostly in western France), but we (hubby & I, no child back then !!) had bought in Disneyland Paris in 1998, they were still making cards for stereoscopes, apparently. It's made in bakelite & is of a lovely vintage blue. The boys enjoyed looking in it very much, as you can guess, and I think I'll be on the lookout for vintage stereoscope cards now.

hoping you had a good start of your week. Wishing you well & blowing kisses

xoxo

  3. I think that's just lovely. So nice to find favourite things from your childhood.

My mum and dad kept hold of my little toy treehouse. It was my absolute favourite towy when I was 8 or 9, and I cried when I opened it one Christmas.
Now my little Princess has it, and I love that she loves to play with something that I loved so much :o)

Do your boys like the stereoscope?

Oh, and did you get the snow I sent over?!

    have a lovely Tuesday xx

  4. It's fantastic! We had one as children too, not nearly as pretty as your version though. The viewer itself is a work of art. I love seeing the image through it with you, special. Jx

  5. Oh, now there's a memory! We had something similar with circular discs. I remember pulling that trigger down to get the next image, and how wowed we were back then by the 3D effect - such simple creatures!
