... when the weather is actually an autumnal one. It's been very windy & stormy since yesterday morning, and it even woke me up at 04.30am (great, right ?) this night. It's still very very windy & it's raining from time to time. (not always a good mix, with wind !) But it's a cosy kind of weather & I'm loving it. (just would have prefered not to have to go shopping for food this morning -we're going by foot, as we live in town-)
... when you feel like emptying your pantry & kitchen shelves, cleaning them all, sorting everything (giving or throwing), re-organzising them for a smarter use of them, and when finally you feel like stocking up on things to put in your pantry, for when there will be days you won't feel like going out.
... when you actually start to wear the armwarmers you had made a couple of weeks ago
... when you have put the flannel sheets on, have taken out the blanket & the warm slippers (and plan to buy some more) Last year, we had bought Giesswein for the kids, and this year we'll buy new ones as they have outgrown them. I would have loved to handmake them slippers, but I don't have any felted wool, and have no pattern to do so. Suggestions, friends ?
... when you're planning to buy flannel to make pillow cases
... when you don't have the heat on yet (and don't have a drier), and have some kind of difficulties for drying clothes ... ugh
... when you need to have lights on most of the time
... when it's POPPYTALK'S AUTUMN COLOUR WEEK again ! Yay ! Today is green, so here are my contributions (even though you've all seen these photos this past month) :... speaking of dyeing, I have AT LONG LAST posted over at the dyeing blog. You will be able to read & see photos about our dyeings with :
- foeniculum vulgare (fennel)
- rosa canina (rosehips)
- phillyrea angustifolia
- helianthus annuus (sunflower)
I am planning to blog about the solar dyeing I rinced (and showed on Flickr) last week, and about a hot dyeing we made last week too. A last one (for now) will follow the next few days.
yesterday we stayed home, all day. Not even put our nose outside. You know, that kind of day (plus it was blowing so hard) you only want to stay home (we are such a band of homebodies, that's dramatic ! LOL). I made things here & there, caught up on making gifts for friends (and the parcels that hold them), dusted here & there, playing with the boys here & there, drinking coffee here & there ahah, and also crafting here & there. I managed to make a wristcuff that I will show you tomorrow, it will fit the Autumn Color Week better.
now have a great start to your week, friends, thank you for stopping by ! :)

your autumn greens are so soft and fresh. They give me such hope and energy this morning. I am so happy you are participating in the week of autumn color.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are so beautiful! I can't wait to get caught up on all your dyeing. I'll try to convince the wee monsters to nap so I can do more reading. xoxo
ReplyDeleteLOVE the blue-green in the bottom photo. Nearly the same color as the jacket I am wearing. Yes, a jacket. Yay!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful calm greens.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I certainly know it's Autumn here; clothes are taking two days to dry, my slippers are worn out and I keep thinking about making a pair, and yes I've pulled the old electric blanket out of the cupboard! Oh yes, it's Autumn alright : )
ReplyDeleteLOVELY photos. And you can see the autumn sunshine in them as well. Have a good week. Carina x
