slipping away

time, that is, of course ...

to make long short, here's a quick recap of the last couple of days (unless you follow me on Flickr)

on Friday, I felt the urge to work on the woven remnants of the two cushions I had made with Bookhou's napkins. I sewed them on a piece of chambray, and then added a layer of cotton batting underneath, and started stitching around. It's not over yet, I had to let it as is all weekend, but here is what it looks like right now :

nothing was planned, I stitched as my heart was telling me to do so. It started with the red & white stitches all around, that were kind of woven themselves, and then the rest of the stitches followed naturally.

on Saturday AND on Sunday afternoon, we were invited to my niece's 1st birthday parties, and well, we were outdoors most of the time, in the "cold" & very windy weather, so that was a nice time, but I wished it had been warmer. It kept us most of the weekend away from home, so there again, I didn't spend time making things much at all, as the few time at home was devoted, of course, to doing laundry, and all kind of houseworks.

a solar dyeing is still "brewing". I may rince it today or tomorrow, though.

I've noticed that the sun is much lower in the sky now, and yesterday for the first time of the season, we turned the heat on, 17.5°C / 63.5°F indoors was not good enough anymore for laundry to dry properly, or for two persons working at home to keep warm enough. I have even taken the warm duvet covers out of the closet & have installed them. Now the beds are warm welcoming places again ! :)

sun's lower now

the tree facing the kitchen's window is changing colors. I hope it won't loose all its leaves (because of the wind & sudden cold) before they all turn to yellow.

from the edges

on Sunday afternoon, before going to the second birthday party, we went to the beach. The one where I picked most of my sea stones from. There are a lot of photos I want to show, but I haven't even uploaded them to Flickr, so this will be the subject of my next blog post. Until then, I'll show you the couple of photos I snapped at my inlaws' (we got to pick up my MIL before the party) & on the way to the beach (photos taken from the driving car).

hey, what's that thing you hold in your hands ?

yes, there are pink flamingoes in the south of France. They're here most of the time, until they migrate to Africa for the cold months.

I will leave you for now, wishing you all a wonderful start of your week ! Take care !

  5. your blog always calms me Sonia. I love your photos.

I understand the drying indoors thing completely! I'm having the same problem. I refuse to get a tumble dryer as I have survived without for all these years, don't want to start relying on one now (cost and environment being main concerns). I always have laundry hanging up, but have noticed it's taking a lot longer than normal. Our heating kicks in when the temperature drops to a certain number, and twice now it's been on in the morning. It really is getting colder, but I'm not complaining. Planning on some lovely long walks soon. Feel as if I need them. I've been doing the same as you, working on a future blog post. Mine will be on CR on Wednesday, it still needs a bit of editing.

Time I was off. Have a lovely, lovely day my friend xx
