by others, for others

I've been home most of the day today, but I haven't been online at all. Didn't upload a photo or tweeted or anything else since this morning right after I turn the laptop on. I got many little things done, but I'll make short today, hubby hadn't been feeling well these days, so I'll show you wonderful things made by others, two talented women, one in Portugal & one in England. Both made my heart happy & receiving these in the mail proved to be very cheering & uplifting !

the first is a ceramic vase made by Paula Valentim / OTCHIPOTCHI. If you're a bit online, on Flickr mostly, you probably already know her, and probably you also own something from her too (I know that Margie, Geninne, Valérie already do)

as you can see, it has already welcomed a sample of my favorite dry flowers from the garrigue.

the other thing I received is the zine I was talking you about the other day, Without Autumn. It was a delight to receive this very lovely zine in the mail today. It was made by Jill Wignall, based in London, England. You may know her through her TODAY I SAW project. I love this zine & I'm sure that the ones who were fast, smart & lucky enough to get a copy will be delighted too !

doesn't this sneek peek look lovey, uh ?!

this is now what I made today for others, for friends. A happy looking (or at least I think so) coaster

happy coaster

and lavender filled acorns, one wool & one linen

wool & linen acorns

don't be fooled, these required me lots & lots of prototypes before being like that ! (as silly as it may sound ... and even though acorns come in many different shapes & sizes, I know)

other than that, well, life's life, autumn is half warm half cold over here, it sounds ridiculous but it is so. It was cold the last few days and today it was so warm (too warm, almost), and tomorrow is supposed to be very cold (for here, hey). So it doesn't make it easy to dress properly & for not coming with a cold. We must take each day as it comes. When it's warm you have to open your windows & let the air & sun in, and when it's too cold, you have to keep your windows closed, the heat on, and a good cup of cinnamon sprinkled (homemade) latte to your reach.

ALL DAY

the yellow hour

keep warm & stay well, friends
many hugs
xoxo

  1. thank you so much for sharing my zine and what I do with your readers, Sonia. The vase from otchipotchi looks wonderful too, I love the string she has used to wrap the parcel. It's really cold here - close to freezing at night.
Thank you and stay cozy (on your cold days) X X X

  2. Loved the pictures but sensed a feeling of sadness "in your voice". Hope hubby is feeling better soon - we do hate for our loved one to be under the weather don't we?

  5. The vase is gorgeous, a well deserved treat for you. The acorns are wonderful too, with sweet fabrics. I'm excited to be receiving my Jill zine too, think I'll whip up a nice warm drink like you have made to read it with when it arrives :)

Happy day to you and best "get well soon" wishes to C.

  6. ooh, what lovely goodies. That vase is very you and perfect for your dried flowers.

The acorns are to die for! Love them. I know what you mean about having several trial runs. In the past I've tried making velvet strawberries and velvet pumpkins. The pumpkins were easier, my strawberries ended up looking like sprouting potatoes! ha ha ha! Next year I'll have more time on my hands, and will be able to get back into being more creative.

Love that zine. The artwork is just too cute for words.

Thank you for your comment. I knew you'd understand what I mean. If it wasn't for Girly Girl, I really wouldn't bother with Halloween, it's not my favourite 'celebration', and I can't stand all the orange! Still. Not much longer, then I can enjoy my 'white month' ;o)

have a lovely afternoon. After a warm/cold start to our Autumn it's finally what I call 'proper autumn weather'. Just had a lovely play in three of the nearby parks and had a fab time, not least because the weather was so perfect.

    :o)

I have a twitter acct that I never use. I might activate it and add just a few friends like you and Sadie so I can get your tweets. Rushing b4 the boys arrive today! (((Hugz)))
