the doctor should have arrived around 10, but he had troubles with his car, and he arrived at 10.25am. Ouch. When it was finally OUR turn ... it was ... 12.15am. Three whole hours. I could have left, but we couldn't come tomorrow as he has school & the doctor's hours are the same as school's ! So we stayed. Turns out that P has a tracheitis, laryngitis, pharyngitis. A bit of everything at the same time. So he has medication now & it should be better soon.
these three hours went so slow, and fast at the same time. I regret I hadn't brought a water bottle, though. Everyone was reading gossip mags, playing or listening music on their phones. But I had brought something else with me. No, not embroidery (note to self : MUST think to have a "on-the-go" embroidery bag) ... but my Moleskine notebook & a Pigma Micron pen for me, another pocket notebook & a pencil & a cartoon for P.
during these three hours, I noted down several lists (please call me the Professional ListMaker, ugh), mainly of things I must do the next few days & weeks. I drew, doodled, looked at my watch a thousand times I admitt).
I also had P do maths, he also drew on his own, then I played tictactoe with him, then he read a bit his cartoon, and I had to find other quiet games to do with him. I decided to draw a face. Simply the outline only, and then I asked him to draw the eyes. I drew the mouth, he added the nose, I added the ears, he added hair, I added a moustache, he added a cap, I added his chest, he added tatoos ... etc etc etc etc .... you get the idea, I suppose !
then, once this was over, I decided to draw outlines of a simple house. And we decorated bit by bit the interior. That was good fun, he loved it as much as I did ! He even drew the basement, and I added mice ! LOL
I don't know if you have to wait a lot at your doctor's office ... but I need to work something out, for me, but for all mamas-who-have-to-stay-in-doctor's-waiting-room-with-little-ones out there. So ... well ... stay tuned for something related to that. I don't know when, but I'm sure something will come out of these experiences.I just wish I had my favorite doctor around the corner ... :)
ok, must really go now. After the doctor we had lunch, and after lunch I had to go to the shops. So now I have few time left to keep the house in order & I'll see if I can squeeze some crafty time before U & hubby comes back from the ortoptist's.

oh, waiting rooms ... not my favorite place to be by a long shot! Looks like you made the best use of your time you could, though.
ReplyDeleteHope P is feeling better :-)

What a yucky morning! Your waiting room doodles are lovely though. I hope little P feels better soon and you get some momma crafty time.

So sorry to hear about your long wait. That is just awful, but thankfully you will have the right medication now. We have (Julia and I) have been suffering with the constant sniffles and coughs since December, and we are getting very tired of it. My first bits of mediation from the doc did not work though, so I have to go back *dread*

ReplyDeleteHi Sonia! I tried to leave a comment and messed up....sorry....having problems today :) I really want to start a blog and am embarrased that I can't get it to work at all. I guess I just have to keep trying!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you had to wait so long at the dr. I hope P is better soon!
Your doodles are so nice!
Hugs! xoxo Karen
When my children were little, I had an outfit hanging in the closet with money in the pocket just for emergencies (never know when someone will need stitches, etc.). It saved me several times!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how hard doctors have to make being sick. Why, oh why can't they just make an appointment time for everyone, so that you only turn up in time for your appointment. Everyone sitting there wasting sick being sick is not good.
ReplyDeleteThankfully our doctor doesn't keep us waiting long, and she has a wonderful outdoor garden with swings and garden paths to run around in - and some quite good books to read + kids toys for playing.
At least you came home with some lovely new designs and patterns.
I hope everyone gets better soon.
