these days are passing by way too fast, I think you'll all agree, we're all juggling with what we have to do, what we'd like to do, what we should have done ... and so on ...
yesterday the boys were off school (as usual), and my parents came to visit, as well as my MIL. Why all at the same time ? Because the other days, it was impossible, for many reasons. So yesterday was quite a busy day at home. Many people in a single appartment sure bring busy-ness, excitement & is also a bit headache inducing, I swear.
I gave my mom & MIL their mother's day gifts (a pincushion & a matching coaster) and they were really happy. They do enjoy handmade things, even though I think they had lost the concept along with the years of "technological progress". (you know, those years when women suddenly got to get a washing machine, baby milk powder, disposable diapers ... see what I mean ?)
yesterday marked also a first for me. With the guidance of my mom and of a Japanese book recently translated in French, I used a pattern for the 1st time of my life (still thinking it's not really my thing, but well ...), to make a piece of clothing (another first !) ... for myself (and here's a third "first" !!). Wow, that was a lot. And it was finished before the end of the day too !yep, that's me, modelling the finished project. It's made of chambray (cotton) and is right up my alley. I wanted something simple, and I think I started with the right piece, in the right material. I'm feeling I need to declutter my wardrobe, and just like for food, have it in lesser quantity, but in better quality.
I also wanted to show the first cherries we had yesterday. They come from my maternal grandpa's cherry tree, which grows in his own vineyard. (a small one)also wanted to show you the little treasures I picked during our fossil hunting day (last Sunday). I had forgotten to take a photo, so this morning was the right moment to do so. I found very few fossils (compared to the other times) but was attracted by the beauty & amazing structure of these two skeleton leaves. (or is it leaves skeletons ?)the leaves make me think a bit of cicada wings ... like this one (photo from last year, in Chessy)or also of dragonfly/damselfly's wings
so sorry if I owe you a visit, I think I've lost track of many of you, I'm confused. Days are seriously not long enough. (AND already long enough, the irony!) Must work on my time management a bit more, I guess.
I wish you all a great Friday tomorrow. Sending my love all around, I hope you can feel it, friends. Please take care.

Sonia
Thank you. I loved my little walk through a day with you. Well done I say.
ReplyDeleteLove the top - been so busy - still haven't had time to look at summer cuffs - might get one for my darling granddaughter. She so loved the other one.
ReplyDeleteOh - I'm sad - I just visited esty and love the wrist cuff - LA VIE EN ROSE but know it would be way too big for her. I'll try to catch one later for children
ReplyDeleteTime flies when you're having fun! Congratulations on making your pretty blue shirt. Kim :)
ReplyDeleteO I know I know. Days are just too short. I am getting lots done, but it never seems to be enough. And soon the children will have Summer Holidays (gulp) Nothing will get done then :) x
ReplyDeleteVery nice shirt.
ReplyDeleteThe leaf looks just like insect wings :)
You look so full of life and love Sonia.
ReplyDeleteYou are gorgeous!!
Okay I am looking at your lovely image so much I am ignoring the rest of the post which I know is also very delightful
but not as much as you!!!
When it cools down a little here or my family is not too annoyed about a sewing machine out on the porch
I am going to get back into some sewing myself.
I have so many projects in my little brain.
Hi Sonia!! It has been a long time since I have been able to visit. You did a grat job on your pattern. Beautiful shirt!! Have a nice weekend!! ((BIG HUGS))!!
ReplyDeleteI love your first sewn garment. Perfect fabric and a nice clean cut and if looks beautiful on you with your lovely tan. `it's a lot nicer than my first garment - a Holly Hobbie print blouse. I was 8 and oddly Gracie now wears similar tops to the one I made. I received some linen this week to make some tops too, I promised myself to follow Lisa's lead to make more for me, I'm so glad you're doing the same. Have a wonderful weekend!
