hello friends ! (beware ... photo intense post)
yesterday we had planned to be away all day, and that's what we did.
we didn't go really far away, something like 40km away, but we did make a stop on the way, and admire the garrigue (that's the name of wild areas in the south of France, if you're new to my blog). Because it is right now at its best. Very soon it will be too hot & everything will dry & die, except many species that, of course, adapted themselves to this weather, along the centuries & milleniums.
what I mean is that the garrigue right now is green & in full bloom, and if I had to advice anyone who would like to come admire the local fauna & flora, then I'd advice this person to come visit now. By the end of May. Right now.
so during our first stop, this is what we saw, heard, smelled, admired.I encourage you to visit the photos' pages on Flickr, if you want to see better or know more, if you're so inclined, of course.
then we left & went further until we arrived where we planned to go, Brissac, a small village, where there is a river, and a large place for playing, picnicking & doing whatever you want to do. We really love it there, the boys play in the COLD water, and we're surrounded by damselflies, dragonflies, lots of aquatic plants (such as the heavenly fragrant aquatic mint). So here are the photos from there.we picnicked there, then we decided to leave, we had had a blast there.
we took the car & went where we usually go fossil hunting, where we had been the previous Sunday. (not even a week ago, yep) We stayed there a couple of hours there, and yes, we did enjoy the wild world there too. The boys (the 3 of them) went on a little adventure while I drew in my Moleskine.yup, that's fossils that you saw. Yep, I found some. Many of them. When I said I wouldn't find any because it was too hot. Finding fossils is a matter of place (of course), then a matter of disposition (last week I thought I wouldn't find any & I found only a couple of them), and a matter of luck.
we were totally exhausted by the end of the day, it felt like having lived three days in one. So many natural beauties, our eyes & minds are full of colors & shapes & experiences !
I hope your weekend was as thrilling as yours !

Sonia, your photographs are BEAUTIFUL. Here in the Pacific Northwest we are having a very unseasonably wet, cold, grey late spring. Everyone is grumpy and longing for the sun and warmth of this time of year. Your account of your day in the south of France yesterday has refreshed me greatly. Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Sonia. I loved all of your photos and reading about time spent by the river. It's so wonderful to be able to hear about someone else's life especially when that someone is in France, a place I really love. I am in Connecticut in the United States. Thanks for sharing.
