I don't know if there's a word for that, if it's a disease or so, but I've become the Queen of Oh yes ! I love that ! Let's do it !! (speaking of doing somehing creative, not sex, of course !!!)
if you wonder what the heck I'm talking about, well, I'm talking about starting a kind of craft, and bouncing to another, sometimes leaving the first thing in the same state for ... er ... days, weeks, or months.
I really want to do it all ... really ! This almost first half of 2010 has felt like the most creative & artistic, for me. I'm dipping my toes in many different waters & I'm loving it. It's like opening to a hundred universes. I'm not saying that I'm good at everything I do, I've not gone totally nut (yet). But, I've realized that for all the crafts I've begun to do, I've started on a heartbeat, and even though I may not do everything in the most perfect kind of way (let's face it), I've found myself finding pleasure & great excitement (almost like a little girl) when crafting.
even though I've not been hooked on crochetting (the worst pun ever, I know), these are what I've been doing these last weeks & months :
sewing
(free hand) embroidering
watercoloring
drawing (with Microns)
zine making
papercutting
photographying
dyeing with plants
I'm getting very interested in :
fossils
botanic
it may seem short lists, but I think the list could go on & on (at least in my head it does)
this afternoon, right before leaving (of course ! it's always like that, anyway) to grab P at school, I felt inspired to grab the little embroidery hoop in which I had put some chambray in, weeks ago. (you know, just in case !). And I started embroidering the same rose I drew two days ago. In fact it is a Rosa canina (dog rose / églantier). I don't know what it will become, but I've finished it (compared to this photo, it's finished now).speaking of fossils, yesterday we at long last had the idea to look at them in the microscop we acquired a couple of months ago. Of course these fossils are not flat so the focus wasn't on the whole fossil. I tried to figure how I could take a photo of what I was seeing, when my camera's lens touched the microscop's lens. I stopped breathing (like always when I take a photo) & clicked.when you think that these fossils are 200 millions years old (saying this because we found them in blue marl, which existed in this area, 200 millions years ago) Where we found them, the sea was too, 200 millions years ago. Not anymore. Now, it's approx 30 km southern.
ok, girls, I'm pooped. The wind's been blowing like crazy since yesterday evening, and it did tired us like I would have never thought it would. Off to bed. Thank you so much for reading & stopping by.

Oh I loved this post! I am going downstairs to get out all my "in process" projects..those quilts, that felting, the knitting, the collages.... so many exciting creative things to do..so little time!! And that tiny fossil. Soo beautiful! Thank you. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI've recently become a reader of your blog and i find it sooo interesting. My god I wish I had a place where I could look for some fossils. Such ammonite is an awesomely big treasure. I also love the idea of dying with natural dyes, I'm very inspired by your experiment with yellow onion, the color is great. And the last but not least thing I wan to say is that I know what you feel :) I'm now in the mood for doing everything! And it's so good to have a good hobby, especially when you learn by doing it :)
ReplyDeleteKeep on going!
I know what you mean.
ReplyDeleteI too can never just be happy with just one thing. One of my problems is that I have too many things I want to try and never find the time to do them.
Very frustrating! Sometimes creativity can be a curse but
people like you and me too are never bored. I rather have it this way! :0)
I know that I can always try something new from my LONG list of "I need to try this..."
In regards to fossils...
My dad is a fossil collector and we went with him often as kids to places where yo can find them. We also never saw a sand beach as kids as result of this. Sand beaches had no appeal to my dad! We spend our summers in Sweden on the island of Gotland where you can find some beautiful Trilobites besides a whole bunch of other fossils.:0)
Have a wonderful creative day!
All my best!Sue
Hi Sonia. I love your pictures as always. Your embroidery is really pretty!! Have a great day!!
ReplyDeletei always find your blog posts so refreshing
ReplyDeletealmost ironic since you seem somewhat tired out at the end of your day.
I have just finished a big long fight with "word" and if it weren't for the help of my darling daughter I think "it" would have won.
Now that is done I can relax with a cool drink and surf a little starting with my dear friend , sonia.
Great post Sonia! I enjoyed reading it. Your processes resemble so much the way I work, having so many incomplete projects simultaneously. But I absolutely love exploring different crafts and experimenting with new techniques
ReplyDeleteAh yes, you're describing me...the jack of all trades and master of none. I flit from project to project, medium to medium, like a bee. It's in our nature, I think.
ReplyDeleteThe fossil photos are extraordinary. Really beautiful, and clever you for thinking to photograph them this way.
goodness you sound like me, i have a list as long as my arm with projects i want to do. Those fossil photos are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI love to do "too many" things too. I have way too many UFOs and even more ideas jotted in my notebooks (or not, but still in my head).
ReplyDeleteYour microscope photos are really wonderful. It makes me want to get out my son's old 'scope and see what pictures I can take.
