thursday winner + thursday questions answered

we had three appointments at the dentist's yesterday afternoon but they got cancelled by the dentist's sceretary, telling us he had an emergency. So now it's postponed to April 21st ! Not very cool, I think. It's in three weeks !! I have myself an appointment this morning at 10am, for a regular checkup. So, I'll make short ... Here is the name of the winner of thursday's giveaway (candy hues) :

Sue
congratulations, Sue !! very happy for you ! I'll contact you ASAP for your personal infos.
thanks ! and good luck to everyone for the LAST giveaway !

Here are my answers to last Thursday questions ...

what is your favorite book ?
... it's a book written in French, which was written by Philippe Delerm. Its title is "Autumn", and the author draws us into the world of the pre-raphaelite painters. ( you can buy it here )

will you be showing us your haircut ?
... not today, but, eventually

do you crochet ?
... well, not really (had just started two months ago, then let things where they were)

have you done anything crazy like ride a motorcycled cross-country, rob a train, or dye your hair purple ?
... aw, no, I've always been a good, not wild girl ... and my parents can thank me for that ! I think they never realized how good I was. (I mean, I was no evil, really)

what has been the hightlight of your life so far ?
... giving birth to both my sons

I love your earrings (well, the one that showed in the picture)! Where did you get them ?
... they were from Claire's. I'm not very proud of that (buying earrings in "cheap" shops, and have stopped doing so a couple of years ago. In a spirit of "less is more", and "quality is better than quantity", I am determined to buy only high quality ones, but it's not been my top priority since we moved here, so I haven't got any new earrings for almost a year. I would love to buy ones on Etsy, but eco friendly ones.

what's your favorite children book(s)?
... I was not a real bookworm when I was a child (again, thank you mom, thank you dad) but the ones I loved when I was young was Martine, and also Barbapapa. In our appartment now, my boys have more books than you could imagine. I've tried to calm down, but these last years, children books have been part of our expenses. As a matter of fact, P used to read fluently at the age of 5 1/2, and his brother (same age now) is starting to read nicely too. I don't think I was at that level at the same age.

how often do you change your hairstyle ?
... I don't calculate ! I've moved several times, had several hairdressers, changed my mind several times too ... so I really can't count !

what is the one thing you look for most in a good friend ?
... being honest / sincere with me. That's for sure.

where/How did you learn how to do the web design for your site(s) ? It always looks so nice and fresh !
... well, my "old" net friends know that already, but most of you don't, so I'll explain. Shortly after discovering the existence of the internet, I discovered that you could have a personal website, and that there were also web graphic designers/artists. I was at home, and sans child at the time. I bought my Wacom tablet & Paint Shop Pro (7.02 version), and I started trying my hand at drawing graphics for country style websites. It was a lot of work, a lot of time spent at the computer, for not much in return (but a small handful of dollars, really) Anyway. I changed pen tablets two times after that, but always kept Paint Shop Pro, to resize my photos (and such) for instance, and I've also always been a font addict. I think I must have almost 800 of them on my hardrrive. So, that's why I try to keep my "web design" always clean & fresh.

what craft would you like to learn to do ?
... well, in February my mom had started to teach me how to crochet, but I've been wayt to busy since then to grab it & do it again. But I have SO many other crafts I'd love to try my hands to ! Stamps handcarving & fabric printing, for instance, but I don't find the appropriate tools & materials here to do so, which makes me sad.

what are the first five most inspiring things that come to your mind ?
... nature (and it covers soooooooo many things !!)

what is you favorite time or season of the year ?
... I can't choose between spring & autumn. The older I get, the more I dislike summer. Because it really REALLY gets too hot, and too soon, over here. Being sunny & warm is nice, but burning at 10am already, or not managing to sleep correctly even with windows wide open ... is really not that great.

do you have a middle name ? IF so, what is it ?
... Stéphanie.

how old are your boys ?
... my oldest will be 8 in June, and his brother will be 6 in August.

when did you start getting your hair cut short ?
... it was last December (or November ? I can't remember)

if you could live any where in the world besides France with your family where would that be ?
... I already answered I think ... I haven't travelled enough to know which country I'd love best to live in, besides France. Things can always be better, but we're happy here.

what are you looking forwards to most this Easter ?
... what do you expect from me ?! CHOCOLATE EGGS of course !!!

have you been to Singapore ?
... no I've never been to Singapore.

what is your favorite place on the planet ?
... exactly where I am when I'm with my hubby & sons.

what's your favorite guilt-free food ?
... let me see ... coffee (I don't add sugar)

what's your favourite kind of cookie ?
... chewy. I think it could be any flavour BUT with dried fruits or coconut in them. But, they need to be chewy !

yesterday, I think I was rather productive, as I managed to be up to date with my laundry (ironed a good bunch & had a load washed), the place stayed reasonnably tidy (as much as it can be with two little ones at home, off school), washed the dishes too many times, packed most of our winter clothes away until next year (OK, not everything, but a lot, really), went shopping for food with the boys (and it was sooooo crowded, awful) ... and I managed to make a set of two coasters, that were listed yesterday evening in the shop. I reused a white & blue (stain-free, and rather traditional here) dishtowel/dishcloth I had but never used. And linen for the other side. And embroidered the words "cheers" & "santé" (=cheers in French) with red floss. Here they are :

bilingual coasters

I called them "bilingual coasters" (yep, that made me smile, I'm pathetic)

oh well, I don't have much time for more today, sorry girls. I hope you're all having a lovely week. It's been so darn busy here, I'm trying to breathe. So, please DO take care of you, and don't forget to THINK ABOUT YOURSELF.
