bonjour

bonjour (meaning "good morning" or something similar, in French, in case you wouldn't have guessed by yourself) is the name of the wrist cuff I have managed to make today. I cut three different ones, but this one is the only one I managed to finish before the end of the day. The three of them feature a piece of fabric coming from a genuine, vintage, Provençal shirt (from the brand Souleiado), in three different colors, but the same print. I had already used that print for two pincushions. It is in the shop already.

I like how I managed to sneak in linen + stamping + embroidering + lace + gingham + salvaged parts (the Provençal fabric, the elastic cord) + something made from reclaimed materials (wood button made by Nurtured Earth on Etsy, from reclaimed wood). It's lightweight, perfect for the summer days. (no batting nor interfacing)

I also added gift tags (two different sets of four tags) made with watercolors (on watercolor paper). They are NOT prints, but the originals. They are also in the shop.

I was inspired to make them after I made these ones, that were sent to several friends.

on another note, little one had no fever last night, no fever today, no fever tonight, so I'm a bit at loss, but nevermind, the most important is that he is OK now. Poor little lad, tomorrow we have another appointment at the ophtalmo, and this time I'll have to put drops in his eyes & his vision will be blurry all morning. The doctor needed this deeper exam to understand why he doesn't seem to see 3D much at all, and why one of his eyes got lazy suddenly, even with his current glasses on. [insert a big, heart-broken mama sigh here] I hope everything will go fine & that he won't be too uncomfortable. I made the same exam several years ago, and oh boy it was a weird feeling, thank goodness my dad was with me or I would have stayed at the doctor's all day. (because you can't do much at all with a very blurry vision)

I hope your week is ending on a good note. We're kind of tired over here. It was too warm a week & I can't wait for the rain predicted for this weekend, it will come as a little relief. I was NOT ready for summer temps yet !!!

take care, friends
xoxo

  5. The cuff is wonderful, Sonia! You should try a little art quilt since you are so good at mixing elements like that.

  6. No, I'm not ready for summer heat yet either, and our weather has been trying to get warm. It has too, some days have been very muggy, but I'm hoping for a stormy weekend. And as it's a Bank Holiday Monday, I should be in luck!

I love your cuffs, I think they are so clever, but Sonia, those tags are just to die for! I don't know how anyone could even think of giving them away, they are such works of art.

Thank you for your comment. Especially the not being rich part! I thought I'd better add that, in case I came across as some wealthy nitwit!!! Oh how I wish I was!!! ;o) I left out the bit about buying a new dress today too. But again, I've had to wait for weeks to get the money in my bank account, and I wouldn't even check on the website to see if they had it in stock until I had the money to buy it. Now I'm broke for another month! Never mind.

Have a lovely weekend. Hope your weather is cooler and fresher for you. Not yet summer, you are too early!
    xx
