white, yellow & pink monday

W H I T E
just a couple of photos of the snow before it started melting very seriously (what a mess it is now ... and how slippery it was this morning on the way to schools !!) Taken from the living-room window.

Now all I'm hearing is a constant drip-drip-drip.

yesterday my parents had brought us & my MIL branches of mimosa from their neighbours' garden. I came home with a couple of branches. Long ago, I decided with myself not to buy any more fresh, cut flowers & just enjoy the ones that grow wild, on the waysides (because these don't bring any pollution in their cycle of life), but these don't enter these two categories (nor bought, not wild neither). At least it came with no wrapping & grew locally.

Yesterday they had inspired me for a little watercolor, but I think I need to work on it again.

  1. Oh my goodness all that snow!! Were you expecting it? What a shame it's disappearing before the boys get a chance to play in it. The mimosa is stunning! I love the way you've taken a photo of it from below, what a good idea.

  2. Sonia, your photos are brilliant!! Really, I always admire your photos, but these are just stunning in the light you've been able to capture and that soft focus. I love the snow patterns and then the breath of spring.

I just went to a symposium on Native Plants on Saturday and learned about the terrible practices of the horticulture industry--lots of pesticides and propagation techniques that limit genetic diversity of the plants--and so you are so smart to be harvesting local ones. It's healthier for you and your family, and for all of us! Happy day!

  3. Oh my! It's been very cold here, but I think we've stolen your sun ;) It's been sunny for three days in a row (almost as unheard of as snow in Southern France in March.)
I love all your photos too. Those blossoms are especially yummy :)

  5. Lovely snow pics! :) Snow in March is pretty unusual, but I still remember snow on April 17, 1991. It was a cool bday present, for sure! :D Hugs!
