Perhaps you could tell me the best thing about living where you live ?
... we live in the south of France, in Montpellier, and it's supposed to be sunny 300 days a year. I don't know if it is right or wrong, but it's true that it's often sunny. And that is gets very warm in the summer (even from June), not that I like that part of living here. But most people would love that part. Last year, when we moved on July 01st, it was 36°C & unbearable, ugh.
where did you buy that lovely blue fabric for your pincushion ?
... the fabric you were referring to came from a Habitat dishcloth, bouth many years ago, but that I had never used.
when are you going to find time to answer all the question that we 're asking ?
... well, I asked for them & won't complain. I answered the Monday questions last week, but yesterday's questions & today's questions were answered the previous evening. Taking on my free time, yes.
your most cherished handmade possession (made by you or by others) ?
... wow, tough. I'm surrounded by lots of handmade creations, all made by very dear friends, and also clothes knitted by my mom. My friends are in fact all around my appartment, and it makes me. I really treasure everything. I can't possibly name one only, I'm sorry.
do you have brothers and sisters ?
... my father had a son before marrying my mom, therefore I have a half-brother, ten older than me. He never lived with us, and isn't much part of MY life. So, I've been a single daughter my whole life. Sometimes it was nice, but sometimes it was tough, even though I wasn't realizing, at that time.
you do so much for so many people, what do you do that's just for you ?
... this has to be a very interesting question actually. I never make me anything. I know this sounds very sad (oh no, please don't cry, it's not that sad, really) but I don't even remember making something for me. Oh yes, my mom & I sewed two summer handbags two years ago. Um, wow, that was a long time ago. Not that I don't want to, but, my days are not 72 hours long (um, I suppose yours aren't neither !) and if I do want to complete handmade creations for the shop or for gifts for friends, then, there is no time left for making things for me. It is never prioritary, and by consequence, it never happens. I need to change that. But I also WANT to create for my children (and it never happens neither, which makes me even sadder), AND for our home. I have a real desire to make things for my children, my hubby, our home, for myself, but how can I do ?! I don't even manage to complete all the other projects !! I am really at loss. :(
Where did you get your gorgeous pins from ?
... from a fabric shop close to my mom's home. But I have decided to give them all to my MIL (who hardly sews) & bought very beautiful white glass head pins, just yesterday. I loved their simplicity better.
what are some of the online fabric and notions stores from France that you shop at (that will hopefully ship internationally) ?
... well, I can not help much at all, as I never buy fabrics or notions online. Sorry.
Where do you find the lovely cookie cutters ?
... in different places. I found the heart, shroomie, shoorting star & flower ones at the supermarket, and the hand one in a local booktstore for children, and they sell few baking essentials for kids.
how old are you ?
... I'll be 32 years old on April 20th. (born in 1978)
What is your favorite embroidery stitch ?
... I can't really chose for one reason, I free-hand embroider, which means that I have no plans for the stitches I will use. They come naturally when I need them, or when I'm inspired by them. This said, I love stitching crosses, I love feather stitch, satin stitch, running stitch, back stitch, blanket stitch, chain stitch ... see, too hard to choose !
what is your absolute favourite material to work with ?
... I think I already answered, it is linen
how many crafts do you get done in a week ?
... I also already answered, and it's difficult to comptabilize the number of projects completed in one week. There are crafty kind of weeks, and more domestic kinds of weeks.
what's your favorite food ?
... too greedy to pick. I love food, I love good food, I love healthy food, I love simple food. I love butter & brown sugar on a slice of bread, I love pastries, I love pickles, I am a stomach on two legs. LOL
if your life could be just as you wanted it (and maybe it already is!), where would you live and what would you be doing ?
... I think I wouldn't change a thing to my current life. Now, if only dogs living in town could go make their poos away from my street, I'd be forever grateful, thanks. (do you think they heard me ?!)
What would you do if you had only one day left to live ?
... wow. I'd bake, cook, eat, craft, laugh with my sons & hubby, and would hug them until the last second.
How many pincushions do you have ?
... ONE ! the one I swaped with my friend Laurraine ! Never had another one.
What is the first thing that comes into your mind when you think of the color green ?
... um, it's pretty basic, I think of a leaf. And weirdly (or not ! you chose), a mint leaf more particularly.
What's your favourite fruit ?
... er, I told you already (or maybe you had understood by yourself !!), I'm greedy & have some difficulties for making choices. I love fruits in general, and I've taught myself along the years (saying this because I don't think it came naturally in the education my parents gave me) to enjoy the fruits that are seasonal. I won't crave strawberries right in the middle of the winter ! I know it's wrong, and will enjoy clementines or satsumas in the winter, and along the seasons, will enjoy strawberries, cherries, plums, peaches, apricots, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, apples, pears ... and I also love bananas, kiwis, pineapples (oh yum) & grapefruits !
