tuesday giveaway : earthy tones

ok girls, so today is Tuesday (how possible ?), so here's the second giveaway !

it includes (from left to right) :
- 1 meter of rust cotton crochet lace
- 1 meter of beige cotton crochet lace
- 1 meter of salmon cotton tape (from Mokuba)
- 1 adorable shroomie shaped cookie cutter

I'll repeat the rules each day, in case you stumble upon these giveaways & didn't read the original post about it. So here it goes :

... you can enter your name (once) each day, for each new giveaway !

... you don't have to have a blog yourself, but having a Flickr stream would be nice

... I'm willing to ship anywhere on this planet, so go ahead !

... although I'm on Twitter, you won't get more "tickets" if you tweet or retweet about it

Therefore, to enter your name, everyday, for each giveaway, you will have to :

... provide a name (so I can call you by your name if you win !)

... provide an email address or a way for me to contact you

... (just because I'm so curious !) tell me in which country you live

... tell me if you craft yourself (and which crafts you do, if you want to)

... and this is new for this week of giveaway .... you will have to ask me ONE QUESTION, something you've always wondered about me, a question you would like to ask me, really, anything ! I'll be happy to answer any questions. It can be personal (a bit, OK ?) or ... oh well, really, be imaginative !!

and I will be answering each question (yes !) the following week (on Tuesday I will answer the questions asked the previous Tuesday etc)

okay ... then, good luck everyone, and keep celebrating & asking questions LOL !

* * * *

yesterday I finally could see the results of the lastest dyebath of eucalyptus (that I had started last Thursday) Linen got very slightly darker than the last one, but silk, people, silk got dark grey, it is so beautiful that I almost cried (ok, I'm a southern girl, I exagerate a teeny tiny little bit !) Silk didn't blood at all, and absorbed so much of the dye, it looks almost metallic & shiny, and I looove the halos/rings/stains it left, I think it makes it even more beautiful ! Here are photos I took (yesterday was rainy & overcast, but I did my best to get decent photos), click them to see way more details (it would make that post way much longer that it already is !)

results of the three different Eucalyptus globulus dyebaths

I don't know about you, but I'm having a very hard time thinking there is only a big week left until the end of March ! Where did that time go ??!!

Sonia

oh ...
PS : I'm so happy to see so many sweet ladies entering my series of giveaways ! and from all over the world, what a joy !!! thank you everyone !! :)

oh, and ...
PS 2 : don't forget that each giveaway is open for a whole week (well, almost)

  1. here I am again, and here's my name! ;o)

I'm going to post again on CR either today or tomorrow, and will mention your giveaway week.Is that ok? If you'd prefer I didn't, just tell me.

Love, love, LOVE the grey fabrics. What beautiful colours. I'm very into grey with pale pinks and greens and blues at the moment, so your home dyed fabrics appeal to me very much.

I'm wondering what you will make with your new fabrics!

I know, the third month of the year almost gone already. Time goes by too quickly.

  5. wow, the fabric looks great. I love the tie-dyed effect. Perhaps the color would be more even if you dyed it in a flat surface?

  14. Happy belated blog birthday! I just stumbled upon your blog and it's really cute, I will definitely be coming back in the future!

I live and work full-time in Toronto, Canada, and when I'm not working, I'm baking, sewing, quilting, crocheting, or daydreaming about how to decorate the new house my boyfriend and I just bought.

My question for you is... since I've never been to France myself (or any part of Europe, sad I know), where is the one lesser-known-to-tourists city in France that I absolutely have to visit?

    Thank you for the giveaway!!

  15. Hi Sonia, I'm Eli from Italy. I do not know how I came to your blog, but I am really happy to meet you and I've already added you to my blog roll.
I'm a designer and painter and I just opened a shop on Etsy. My question is: do you prefer to dye linen or silk? Or other natural fabrics? I have also a second question: do you need hand painted and customized buttons to add to your creations? ;)
If you like to meet me this is my blog.
I have an ongoing give away too.

  16. I just realized that I didn't mention where I was from when I entered the first giveaway--United States. I like to sew--finding the time is another story! I enjoy making clothes for my kids and little things that can be useful around the house or for gifts.
How do you manage to find time for crafting when your kids are about?

  17. Hello Sonia!

Day two - I love it! I told you a bit about me yesterday (not that you have to search back through I just don't want to bore you with repeating myself!) but a little more is that my bday is on Friday and I have a stunningly handsome baby boy who will be 6 months old a week after my bday :)

Okay - question - I love dying fabrics and used to do some basic vegetable dyes (beets were always my favorite and I plan to try your beet/cranberry concoction) but I'm wondering what your all time favorite (so far) is? What natural mixture makes your favorite color?

  21. Hello! What a great giveaway. Thanks for sharing.
I'm Laura from Toronto, Canada. I think about crafting more than I craft but I do crochet and knit, can sew (but don't much), and am determined to learn to needle felt this year. I'm lshin116 at hotmaildotcom
My question: Do you have a favourite dye plant?

  22. I am on the East Coast in the US. I love to knit and sew although I am such a beginner. My blog is called LittleBird. It should be linked below. My email is theveths2000@yahoo.com and my question for you is what do you grow in your garden?

  23. Hi I'm Louise from the UK. I'll have a go at any old craft, really - jack of all trades and master of none!
Your grey silk looks wonderful. I was wondering, what is the worst-smelling think you have used to dye fabric? I remember my mum using onion skins once and that was pretty stinky. x

question: you have come in Italy?

  26. Sonia I love that grey ! You know all my answers so here's a question:
If you were locked in a room for a week with no way out, what colour would you want it to be painted? Okay here's a second question, if there was one window in the room, what would you like your view to be?

    It's late, I'm silliness ensues.

Another question for you: If you could only do one type of craft for the rest of your life, what would it be?

  30. Hi sonia!
It's me, Donna . .kindredcrafters (at) gmail (dot) com - you've shipped goods to me before so you might know i live in Canada!
I'm a quilter but I haven't had much time lately AND we just put an offer in on a house tonight which means we may be listing our own which means NO sewing for months, I am guessing . .

I wonder how you make the time for sewing . .I would love to try and do something every day ...but so many nights I don't have the focus or the energy!

  31. Gorgeous colours in today's giveaway (and the little shroomy...so cute!!). Please enter my name :o)
You know that I live in Canada and that I love *thinking* about crafting even if I don't get much time in real life to actually do it right now. My go to project at the moment is making fabric and tissue paper flowers (not as gorgeous as Sadie's by a long shot!!) for giftwrapping extras. They are easy and fun and take less than 1/2 an hour ;o)

I'm loving pinks and browns/taupes right now~ I think it is the influence of having a little girl :o)
So WOW about the colour of the silk dyed in eucalyptus! I absolutely love it. That almost metallic look....*such* an amazing result. I've learned so much about plant based dyes from watching your tries at it. It really puts artificial colours to shame.
My question for you...hmmm....how do you find time to craft with the boys now that they're in school?? (it's my own personal struggle right now as I try and carve out time with my kids...especially the big one who now has homework every night). Take care and lots of hugs to you. xoxo
