embracing imperfection

this photo went all blurry
it was not done on purpose

I was going to throw it
then decided to embrace the perfection of imperfection
and keep it & post it here

just a little reminder
that we have to accept
the way things are
even when they're not the way we expected them to be

have a totally imperfect week, friends
I know it'll be alright

  1. you know the lesson you've learned with P ? I was taught the same some time ago about L. , a camera, and my photos... she said she was not too keen of taking pictures because she knows they wouldn't be as good as mine... i had to answer it is all in the way you see or feel it, and there is no absolute perfection in this world.
I like the (blurry) photo & I like carrots ;)
    xoxoxoxo for your week

  2. absolutely. couldn't agree more. that's my whole approach to anything crafty I make. Riddled with mistakes, far from perfect, but if I like them, then they'll do!

  3. Hello Sonia,
Well!! I have to say that in my possession I have the most PERFECT little pincushion and strawberry!! I love them so much!! Thank you for adding in the little strawberry it's so sweet and the pincushion is as adorable as I'd hoped it would be with all it's added embroidery. Your work is exceptional and clearly made with love :o) I received your delightful little package today but have only just got round to thanking you for it as I started my new job today.
    Thank you again, Nikki xxx

  6. Those are just the carrots we had for dinner tonight! :)

And yes, yes to the topic of this post! I have been thinking about how it is the imperfections that make handmade so special, as opposed to the machine-made perfection of mass-produced articles. It's like we are putting our own signatures, our beautiful, imperfect selves, into what we make, and that is so precious.

I had a whole conversation with my son about imperfection tonight, as he was struggling to put together a model airplane and thinking that everything was so terrible. What a lesson to me as a mom and as a person that we should be gentle with ourselves!
