lotsa fossils & a new garland

I had started to write this post yesterday, but Flickr was acting up so I could have the URL for the photos. I decided to postpone a little bit more. Here it is.

So Saturday was sunny & cold, a good weather for going fossil hunting ! We had a blast, needless to say. I spent almost 5 hours looking for these treasures, and boy, that cold water coming from the mountains (it had rained a lot the previous days & where it was usually dry, water was running !!!), probably 2 or 3 °C, almost killed my fingers LOL. Now, enjoy some of the photos I took.

Now you must wonder what I came home with ... so here was my bounty ... (note that they're all 200 millions years old | I added my ring for giving you an idea of the scale)

what I found today
lots of amonites

The boys are still on vacation this week, hubby is not (at all), and for 3 good reasons (1- the boys will go back to school next week 2- hubby will be in Corsica all week next week 3- the weather is expected to be fine on Wednesday), we have decided to go back there on Wednesday. Opportunities to go there during school weeks / work weeks are really thougher, so why not !

So ... I finished a new garland last Friday. Took photos on Saturday & listed it to the shop on Sunday. Goodness, sometimes it takes me ages ! There are 2 meters of buntings purely, but it's 2.50m long. I used brown linen, yellow linen, yellow gingham cotton, and vintage floral napkins, oh and orange blend felt & yellow crochet lace too, of course. I have free-hand-embroidered 6 of the buntings. For that matter, I named it "Flower Power". LOL

As you can see, I'm having tons of fun making these garlands ! I have already another one in the making !

This afternoon was not too much unproductive, and I managed to make a lavender strawberry for a friend (not showing it as she visits here !) and also prepare 3 sets of 3 lavender strawberries that I really go finish NOW. Here's a glimpse ... I hope to take photos tomorrow & list them right away. Now, please all take care ... I promise to post the muffin recipe ASAP. Just didn't have the time with the two monsters at home with me !!

  4. These images are so lovely. I wish I could make myself tiny like Thumbelina and fit inside your pack to go on these hunts with you. Being tiny would be useful when hunting for these beautiful fossils.

  5. YOur new bunting looks perfectly retro out!

What a luck you have to be able to just take a walk and find fosiles! I'd love to come back from a walk with fosiles and then put it together in a jar like like it was a terrarium...

  8. Stunning photos Sonia! I'm very tempted to ask you to do a garland for me but not sure whether I'd be able to describe the colours to you...or even whether you'd be able to get fabrics in those colours. Will have a think.
By the looks of all the ammonites you found, your part of the world is as good as ours for fossils!!

  9. Hi Sonia! The fossils are amazing! You guys do well to find so many. Your boys will probably want to be archeologists or geologists! :) I'm sure if we went searching we could find fossils because we are close to the ocean and have lots of mountains and rocky foothills nearby. (((Hugz)))
