{ Simple stitching }

Activity Advent Calendar, Day 3 : Simple stitching

I grabbed my smallest embroidery hoop & gave the boys a piece of linen, a real (I mean, a real one) needle, with thread, and traced a simple design (burst/flake/star, whatever you call it) and started with them.

P (7) really had a blast & told me he loved it when I brought him back to school, after lunch. He really got "the thing" & did a great job, far better than the first & second time we had had them stitching. I felt SO proud, I can tell you. Can't wait to see him finish this very simple project (maybe make an ornament out of it) and help him start a new project, teaching him the basics (putting the thread in the needle, and make a knot ...)

U (5 1/2) -on the mend, apparently- , did his best but had a harder time, which is normal as he's more than two years younger than his brother. He did a great job though, and had a great time too !

Have a great end of the week, everyone ! oxoxo take care

PS : U is feeling already better, thank you so much for your concern & kind words. :)

  2. Hi Sonia! We used to teach students some needlework in 2nd grade. They love to do it! See, like I say, you'd be a great and creative teacher! Glad U is feeling better. Glad you got to see Jacob's little video. He's sweet. I received your card... loved it so much and the sentiments inside. My goal is to get my out of country cards out by tomorrow! (((Hugz)))

  5. Fantastic news that U is better. His stitching looked perfect! Stitching with boys is so fun, I love to watch the concentration in thier faces and see them forget everything else around them.
    Lovely fabric you're supplied, I can't wait to see what they become.

  7. This is so sweet! I tried doing some sewing on plastic grid with my boys once. They discovered that they could use the thread as kind of a kite string and whip the plastic around and hit each other with them.

    sigh

    I'm glad little U is on the mend. Sending lots of love and chicken soup your way.
