That sounds like a weird mix, doesn't it ? Well, it isn't actually. I'm simply talking about two different things : today's activity & the seasonal display that somehow has become a tradition for me around Solstice. { btw, Happy Solstice to you all my friends ! }
Activity Advent Calendar, day 21: Making a picture with coardboard, glue & yarn.
Believe me or not, but I've realized that my boys don't like to play with glue, well, they do, but as long as they don't have to stick their fingers in that damned glue LOL Poor boys, I have tortured them ! But they had fun ! We re-used the cardboard from Amazon deliveries, and the yarns were either from my mom's stash or mine.

Now onto coarse salt & seasonal display.
I'm still complaining about the lack of snow ... even though there has been many places in France which were luckier than us ... so I decided to clear & declutter the top of our sideboard, that had become a Mess Central (ever growing pile of the boys' drawings, plus bits & bobs you name them). I put a long & white (plain) table runner, and took a glass (rectangle) cake dish and filled it with coarse salt (produced locally). I grabbed a couple of pine cones & "dusted" them with a pinch of salt. Then a little bit later I added two small, glass plates (round) and filled them too, added different pine cones, and also added dry flowers (or seeds, I'm not sure about their actual stage), and also what I call "beach's little trees" (I truly don't know what they actually are, but I always gather them if I see any during our beach walks). Well, that's all, and since then, nothing else has landed on the sideboard ... it sure looks simple & decluttered & I love that. Sure a way I shall follow for the rest of our nest, even though we got rid (read = gave) of SO many things right before moving, so what we have here is what we love best & what we really need.

I will take a break from blogging after my last post of the year, on Thursday.
I'll be back the very first days of the year. I may take but very few photos at all during that time, so I think I'll be a bit discret on Flickr too.
I want to enjoy my children while they'll be on vacation (they currently are)
I want to browse my most favorite craft books
I want to browse my favorite blogs' archives
I want to clear & reorganize my real & virtual spaces
I want to reload my batteries
I want to feel efficient & dynamic

I hope you're finding peace & serenity these last days before Christmas.
Thinking about you all, hoping you are all happy & healthy. Take care xoxo
