On my ironing board (an extension of my sewing table LOL) this morning, after inspiration stroke last night ... a bit too late to start anything !
I don't know about you, fellow crafter friends & creative ladies, but as far as I'm concerned, inspiration + motivation strike almost only when I can not start + create + finish it (if it's something relatively quick to make), that-is-to-say, something like half an hour before going to pick the boys at school, or when it's already past midnight, that I'm too tired to do anything good, and that the light is extremely poor, and that you can't make much noise at all ...
See what I mean ? I don't know if I'm the only one.
When does inspiration (+ motivation) strike you ? Always at the right moment, or always at the "wrong" moment (if only there is a "wrong" moment, that is) I really would love to know !
My sewing table / creative space, this morning
I had an idea yesterday, of course right before going to pick the boys at school, and tried to finish it, bits by bits, until it was time for them to go to bed. It was a wrist cuff, made of linen (white & natural) and of Liberty of London, vintage fabric, lovely trims & salavaged elastic cords. I really likes the way it turned out to be, and this time, it is wider but shorter (I learn from my mistake, at least !) so it fits perfectly.
It will be listed in the shop as soon as I finish to post this.
I'm going to become aunt for the very first time ... today or tomorrow ... of a little girl, so can you tell I'm a little bit excited ?! :D
I hope you're all doing great & having an exciting middle of the week ! The temps have gone down down over here & it really feels like autumn at long last ! I switched ALL summer clothes for autumn/winter ones yesterday afternoon & I'm very happy to have that mess out of the way. It feels good.
Layering clothes & wearing warm socks too, eheh ... :P

i know exactly what you mean. i'll spend a week before a birthday party or other event (market stalls) not sewing, and then want to do it all the night before or plan on getting up at 4am to get it all done.

ReplyDeleteI understand-inspiration always strikes when I cannot do anything for it. I've learned to have a sketchbook around the house so I can at least draw out my ideas...Need to get a smaller portable one :)

ReplyDeleteYes, inspiration comes inconveniently. Yesterday I had a fantastic idea, and others in my family added to it. It ended up eating up time that I needed for other work. But it's worth it in the end...

ReplyDeleteBeautiful post today too...I am usually getting ideas when I am cooking...or giving the kids a bath! Or when I am about to fall asleep... now I am not quite asleep then I want to wake up and write it down but I just can't get up...then in the morning I wake up remembering that I had a great idea but of course I dont remember what the idea itself is!!! LOL! oh well.

I'm with Kia, my inspirations usually strikes when I don't have time to do anything about it! I often wake up with a new idea, sometimes that I've dreamt about, and I just have to try to get started on it.

Well you already know how I feel about inspiration and running away with it. I wish I could do that 24 / 7. I love your cuff and your pictures are as always so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDo not worry. You are NOT the only one experiencing inspiration and ideas poping up at very unconvenient times. Like right before delivering an importatn paper, the last day before you leave for vacation or in a deadly boring meeting.
