"Arts & Crafts" Tuesday : Liberty Love

On Saturday, I did buy a little bit of fabric, I admitt. Me being as silly as can be, I always thought I couldn't afford Liberty of London fabrics. Where did I get that idea ?! Of course buying several meters of these fabrics would cost a bunch, but ... I never thought that, for my little pincushions, I only needed small pieces of them ! So, when I asked an employee of Le Bon Marché's (Parisian big store, if you didn't know) fabric area, how few I could buy of each fabric, she told me "20cm" (7.9"). I said "OK, then I want this, and this, and this, and this, and this ...." ... you get the picture !! LOL I was as excited as a little girl in a candy shop, who thinks she can't afford any candy & then realizes she can afford one of most of them !! Ah ah ! Now I have a little stash, and enough to keep me busy for months. I only bought 20cm/7.9" lenghts, so I chose quite a bit of fabrics, Liberty of London, or not. Here they are once I ironed them to organize them neatly. I made a little research on Liberty's website itself in order to find each fabric's name, and then wrote it on a small bit of paper, and pinned it to the fabric with a tiny security pin. I thought it looked lovely. :) Then, I got a little carried away, while ironing the fabrics, and pre-cut 31 bits of them for future pincushions. Yes, thirty-one ... what was I thinking ?!! LOLThere are two Flickr groups dedicated to all Liberty lovers, called Liverty Love & I Love Liberty Fabrics which I really had to join, and I'm in very good company of fantastic friends like Margie, Kajsa, Joanie, Zee, Melissa or Cathy.
I have bought these Liberty in Paris, but you can find them online as well, most probably on Purl Soho, or a little bit on Etsy too, or ... of course, on the official website too : Liberty of London.

Nothing has changed on the box counting ... I think I have reached a critical point that I can't pack much at all right now because we need most of the things until the very last days. (phew, that makes me a break !)

Concerning what I wrote yesterday now ... I want to thank you all so dearly for stopping by (on the blog or elsewhere) & telling me such supporting words, it really means the world to me. Your wise words made me realize that no matter where we are, the most important thing is to be. Not the place where we are. I'll be fine wherever I'll go, as long as I'll have my beloved ones next to me. I can travel the world, stay here until I die, or move a hundred times, it'll be bliss all the way. A very wise friend of mine said something that totally made me reflect ... time and space are illusory. That's so true.

So now I'm considering myself like all the gorgeous lichens I admire everywhere ... I'll grow & be happy wherever the wind will take me to.

Lots of love & positive vibes your way, today and always. xoxo

  4. Liberty has always had the most gorgeous fabric, and I've always been a fan. If you ever get the chance to visit the London shop do so, you would LOVE it, it is beautiful.

Glad you were able to buy small amounts, it makes such a difference. In some shops here you have to buy a minimum of a metre, which is a bit harsh if you only need a tiny amount, but some good shops allow you to buy half a metre minimum, which is much better. :O)

Ok, got to go. Little one is calling me. Have a lovely Wednesday. xxxxx

  6. I will have to get cathy cullis to stitch a love poem to liberty :)
I really think the company needs to put out a coffee table book with all the prints they have ever name, their names and history.
Wouldn't that be perfect. I am so happy to see these joyful patterns popping up everywhere. My daughter even pointed them out in the latest teen voque. Yes, I have raised an entire family of liberty watchers.

  7. Hi Sonia, how I miss you every day. Liberty fabric are so classic. Just beautiful.

I felt so sad reading your last post about how sad it is to be leaving and moving away from Paris. I do understand. The children adapt so quickly to changes and Chris will be busy with his new job, but I know from experience its harder for us. I too have moved so many times, and it is such a mixture of feelings, worry, sad, happy and excitement. Some feel stronger than others, I remember. You'll be ok. You're blessed with the ability to take such wonderful photots, an amazing eye. You've captured your time with your boys so fabulously.

Take care sweetie, one day at a time. Much love X
