"Arts & Crafts" Tuesday : Bookmarks for the teachers

I hate to buy premade things to offer for the teachers at the end of the school year.
Two years ago, I had cross-stitched a "Merci" (thank you) card that I had framed. (well, two, for the two teachers of P)
Last year I had sewn tissue holders, among other things.
And this year, as I'm getting craftier & craftier, I came with the idea of embroidering a linen bookmark, based upon a drawing of the boys. U has two teachers & P one, so I have three to make. Yes, crazy, I'm crazy. We're less than one week from the move, and two days from the day I'll be offering these, and I have only one that is complete. A second is almost done, but not quite. I think I'll have to work on that exclusively tonight !
Here is the first one, front & back. (front is linen, and back is cotton, and in the little square, sewn with a length of hemp yarn, there is wild dried lavender):Wish me luck to be able to finish them all for Thursday afternoon !

What else crafty have I done since last Tuesday ? A handmade birthday card. I didn't have much time, but meant to make a card for a dear friend. Necessity is mother of invention, so I had a sudden idea, once again. I wanted to send seeds to my friend, so I sewed a long rectangle of tracing paper, onto a blank double card, in order to make a kind of smaller envelope in which to hold these seeds. Then I sealed with a tiny round sticker. The seeds I sent were Nigella Damascena, one of my favorite flowers, and came from the ones I had grown in 2006. Photo ? Here we go :Yes, it's very simple & zen, I admitt. I stamped the inner part of the card, don't worry ! :D

I've been honored to be part of a Treasury this week. Jurate from Jujacrafts included my honey jar covers in her honey/bee/beeswax selection of items. I couldn't be any happier, I love bees, honey & beeswax ! Click the photo to see it ! (until the Treasury itself will disappear)Of course, I know that some of you my friends, talented artists & craftswomen, are very often included in Treasuries, Gift Guides or even better reach regularly the Frontpage, but it hardly happens to me, so I like to point it out ... :) Thanks for bearing my little moments of showing off. {hugs}

OK, girls, now here is a little selection of mine ... I hope to show you another one later this week, and why not, if I have time, to pre-post for the days I won't be online. (yes, I am THAT nut) Simply click the photo to get to the shop they're coming from ... it's as simple as that !
Well, time I was off. I hope you are doing fine, my friends. Tomorrow my first baby will turn SEVEN. How on earth such a thing happened ? Seven years since the night I gave him birth ... oh my goodness, in a wink of an eye I'll be 80 ! LOL
Have a superb middle of the week everyone !! xoxoxo

  2. Oh, your seed card is so beautiful. I love the simplicity of it, and the thought and love that is within it, and part of it. Giving someone seeds from flowers you grew - that is a special thing indeed. And after the seeds are planted, your friend can use the card to store pretty little memories and pieces.

    Thank you for including Red Seed Studio in your selection of lovely items. It's so nice to have support and appreciation from dear friends.

    Good luck with the book mark sewing. I too have many things that are on deadlines. So much to do.
    Don't stress. Just relax. The move will be good, you are so prepared.

    Take care. xxx
