Yesterday school started again for the boys, after two weeks winter break. It almost felt weird. These holidays seemed longer than they were, as Chris was here for the first couple of days, my mom was here, then my dad joined, then they left, then my MIL came, and finally Chris came back home. And now the boys have started school again, and tomorrow already my MIL will leave. It fees a bit weirdo, I tell you.
Yesterday, after shopping for food + laundry + cooking in the morning, afternoon was devoted to crafts, yeepie. I made & listed right away, a set of three felt pics. Not the usual charming little felt pics though. These felt pics were made with science little fans in mind, and with pre-teens & teens bedroom decoration too. (isn't a teen's bedroom a dangerous place to enter ? LOL - OK, I know moms of teens reading this will NOT laugh at this silly joke) It's something different from what I do, and I must add right now that I hate chemical products, but these pictograms are actually in use, and children also must know what they mean. (from left to right : harmful/irritant - corrosive - flammable)
So yep, it's March already, time's flying by this year, it's amazing. I clearly remember the Advent calendar ... and it was 2 months ago already. I had decluttered the last two weeks, and gave yesterday morning three bags to U's teacher (who was very happy) and also another bag with books, (girl) stationery & (boy) games/toys for friends of ours. (the ones who came for a playdate last week) Everyone was happy, including me and this fills my heart with joy ! This morning, my friend thanked me again & it made my morning !
Yesterday around 06pm, I also did something I hadn't done for months, which puts the shame on me. Go jogging. Um, right, apparently that wasn't for me during these cold winter months. LOL I started with 10 minutes yesterday, and will try to do better each time. Of course I have to eat better & less too, and that's another story. Here is a poladroid-ed version of a photo taken in July 2007, the month we moved here. I had just lost 20kgs, and sure I looked nice, with straight hair. Of course now my hair is back to natural curly & boy it's much more practical. I don't think I'll go back to straightening my hair again, it was too much a hassle, and money spent.
July 2007
This photo makes me long for summer, so hard. We were at a restaurant, on a terrasse, with Chris' work colleagues/friends. That was a nice moment. :)
Speaking of "beauty" (uh, not mine) or personal/body care, I wanted to share with you my -now- one & only skin cosmetic. I used to clean my face with a cotton disk & Caudalie gentle cleanser, and then I used to put Caudalie moisterizing cream on. My skin is naturally dry (or VERY dry) and sensitive. I read a book about "less is more" (or simplicity, if you prefer) in which the writer of the book adviced to simplify your cosmetics & use soap for washing your face & a natural oil for moisterizing. I tried, thinking at first that my skin would not bare the soap & would get too dry then. But, no, miracle, my skin has not been better than now. My secret (for dry skins ONLY) : organic avocado oil !
Very rich in non-saponifiable components, this virgin cold-pressed organic oil is obtained from the pulp of the avocado (Persea gratissima) Highly effective against wrinkles (who could ask for more, frankly ?!), it is recommended for dry to very dry, or mature skin. With its rich, nourishing texture, it is recommended for the area around the eyes & the neck. And it's edible ! (I'm quoting what's written on the box) So now, I'm going to give my cosmetics to my MIL (who can hardly afford them), and will stick with soap & avocado oil for as long as I'll live. And Chris uses the same as me. Talk about simplifying ! I'm very happy about all this ! (and you can also see this as a very eco-friendly tip !)
This morning (it's 10.45 as I'm typing) the sun is outside, shining brightly, but it's rather cold. Not freezing (the birdbath didn't freeze, that's a sign) but chilly. Planned for this morning (and already done by now) : housework (laundry, ironing, cleaning the shower curtain ...), computer (blog + photos), and a bit of sewing ...
Tissue Cozies in the making
Planned for this afternoon : pharmacy, post office, buying bread, H&M (for my MIL who doesn't have one next to where she lives) & health store. Phew. Busy little day in a word !
As my MIL will leave tomorrow, around 01pm, I don't think I'll have the proper time to post an entry then. So I'll try to pre-write an entry tonight, but that's not sure. I shall see.
OK, gotta go now. Time's flying. Have a super nice Tuesday, my friends ! Take care ! Tender thoughts your way xoxoxo

You look fab with straight hair, Sonia! :D Have a happy and crafty day! Big hugs!
ReplyDeleteI have brown curly hair too - usually badly straightened by myself and a hair dryer. I like the length of yours. AND I have very dry skin, I must try that avacado oil, thanks for the tip!!
ReplyDeleteHi Sonia, I loved seeing your photo with straight hair. I loved the colour. You look so beautiful. I prefer your natural curls, but its fun to have the choice. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteIts so hard to get back into jogging again, well done though for getting up and out so early, what a wonderful way to start your day.
Love your embroidery. And I love your fabric choices for your tissue holders.
I'm curled up with Genevieve and some hotwater bottles, we're both poorly today :(
Take good care, ClareXX
Good for you with the jogging! I am getting back into exercise too, but it is sure a slow start! ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Sonia! My comment was lost. The word to type usually doesn't appear on the first try so I have to type in a fake word to get the real word. This time I lost my comment.
ReplyDeleteHere's the gist:
Hair looked lovely straight but you're so lucky to have natural curls so why fight it! :D
Yes, US is puritanical (compared to Europe) but most educated people would feel the sleeveless controversy is moronic.
(((Hugz)))
just a quick paw print from me Sonia, I am trying to say hello to as many people as I can! Lovely photos as always.
ReplyDeletespring is still here in England, but it's hiding well! It's turned so cold again, and the wind and rain are really quite evil! xx
Ciao Sonia, just popped in to say HELLO and let you know I sent you an e-mail yesterday, hope you got it :) We got 3 cm of snow yesterday evening, but it's all gone now. :/
ReplyDeleteHave a fab day, sweetie! Hugs!
Whoa! It's snowing again! What about Paris? :)
ReplyDeleteYou are lovely either way, but your curls seem to suit your happy personality!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the avacado oil tip!
