Yesterday was Epiphany so everyone has been eating "la galette des rois". (French king cake = galette des Rois = a cake celebrating the Epiphany and traditionally sold and consumed a few days before and after this date. In modern France, the cakes can be found in most bakeries during the month of January. The cake consists of flaky puff pastry layers with a dense center of frangipane)So here is a view of what I call myself (very humbly LOL) "The Queen Mother", ahahah !

Yesterday I bought a huge sack of seeds for wild birds. I already have many feathery visitors, mostly sparrows, tons of sparrows. These last two days I had the visit of extra guests : great tit, robin, blackbird & European starlings.

I finally finished the last of the mini felt pics. This last was about chervil.

OK, must go, mix the soup, have the boys have a shower, and enjoy my parents while they're here. :) I 'll be back tomorrow, as usual ! Thanks so much for reading !! :)
Big hugs to all, and please stay warm ... and cozy, of course !! :D xoxoxox
Oh Sonia the duvet's look wonderful, what a thoughtful granny. So touching :D
ReplyDeleteLove your embroidery work, and all together, its stunning, so classy.
Enjoy your evening with your mum and dad. xxxx
what a nice surprise visit! I love riding the train, wish they ran from where I live. The mini felt pics turned out lovely and make me want to get back to a little stitching. We have so many birds in our yard, and since there are so many earthworms and weed seeds and such, they are always finding something to snack on. We've got lots of robins, a few blue jays, an occasional woodpecker in the trees, quail, sparrows, blackbirds.... to name a few! They always make me smile = } Be warm Sonia!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful surprise.. The little stitches look absolutely wonderful.. Your mum did a fabulous job with the blankets too, it makes you want to crawl inside and snuggle up with a good book.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year (Felice Anno Nuovo) dear Sonia! I always enjoy your entries and photos. I still have tons of old posts to read, will be back next week. So glad your parents are there with you! :) Hugs from me and Zeno
ReplyDeleteOh boy, what a treat! Your parents coming for a surprise visit AND those warm and cosy duvet covers, aren't you a lucky girl ;-) So glad you and the boys will get to enjoy the company of your parents, I know our girls adore both their grannies :-)

What a nice surprise and the timing of the duvets was perfect with your snow! Are the King Cakes like what the have in New Orleans for Mardi Gras? They hide a little plastic baby in them. Joan always tells us about them every year. I know New Orleans was settled by the French so I bet it's a similar cake! (((Hugz)))
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to get your parents instead of the postman! What a sweet surprise. The boys must have been so excited.
ReplyDeleteI love your felt embroidery - what special artworks you have made. Beautiful.
Enjoy your parents, the cold (it's very hot here in Australia), and the birdies.
Your parents are so sweet! My parents never visit us... What a nice surprise! I love your set of felt embroideries! They turned out wonderful!
