Spring.And.Birds

The sun is shining this morning, and it's only 0°C outside. I would have never thought I'd say "it's only 0°C outside" in my whole life ! After several moves to places colder than the place we're native from (southern France, around Montpellier), I got myself used to the cold, to the point that I think I'll have a hard time getting used again to the warmth (and in summer, excessive warmth) of the south. I've never been a huge fan of exceedingly hot summers, and I'm more of a spring & autumn kind of girl, but apparently I'm also becoming a winter kind of girl. :)Yesterday was a long day with the boys, and full of housework, let me tell you. So today I'm enjoying a less housework busy kind of day. (she says, with a basket full of clean laundry to hang, next to her feet !!) But the sun is shining, and it really makes me long of an early spring. Noone will deny that winter's been so cold this year, and it's not over yet, I know. But yesterday afternoon, after shopping for food with the boys, when we walked along the flower shop on our way home, I simply COULDN'T resist a small bouquet of 7 stems of daffodils. (02.90 euros only, frankly !) I'm not a fan of huge bouquet (or at least, not anymore), and instead of having a wee bouquet lost in the middle of nowhere, I'd rather have several flowers spread all over the house. So we have two little vases of two daffodils on the sideboard in the living room, a small vase in the WC (yes), and one flower in our bedroom. And it feels like spring already, at least, at home ! (I re-used Swedish water light blue glass bottles, a Perrier sparkling green glass bottle & another glass container) I took photos this morning (an hour ago) and I was amazed by the fact that photos can look so different, whether the sun shines in the room or not. This photo was taken first (before the sun peeked inside)And this one was taken ... uhh ... 30 minutes later ... wow. (and yes, plus a white linen table runner on this one)I love that the two seasons are visible, winter & spring. Just like we're slipping towards spring, but we're still in winter. (you get it ?)
Here are a couple more ... :)
Now, onto the birds ... The last two days, I've been busy working on two different birds for a private swap with my friend Laurraine. I wish I could have joined the Bird Exchange going on right now, but making 6 birdies way before the end of January was way too much for me. (I'm no superwoman, didn't you know ?!) So we decided for a personal exchange, and that is perfectly fine for me ! Thanks so much Laurraine ! :D So the little birdie at the top of the entry is one of the birdies I'll be sending her ! The other bird is the one I was working on on Tuesday, when U was at home with me. Now ... Birdie Photo Shoot ! LOL
You've all been oh so kind with me about my photography ... I'm so thankful to have you all as my friends ! :) I've understood quite recently (even though I've been feeling this for loooong now) that the whole interest of blogging is SHARING. Sharing details of your everyday life, of course, but sharing your experiences (so that friends may not do the same mistakes as you, and benefit of a shortcut), your joys (so that friends may feel happy too), your fears (so that friends may listen to you), it's all about sharing. I'm happy to write in this blog as often as I can, it's part of my daily routine, it helps me remembering what I did in the day, which craft project is in the making or finished, which special event has happened, and it helps me having friends visiting, just like I was having you all, one after the other (because you never visit my blog all at the same time !), at home, for a cup of coffee, tea or latte (you pick !) and a yummy, homemade with love, warm muffin. So, please, my friends, consider that I'm offering you these (a cuppa + a muffin -or two !-) everytime you're visiting here !
I hope to make this place (blog + website) a friendlier place, a sweeter place to visit, but it's taking me time. More than I'm thinking. But I'm trying hard, I promise ! :)

Have a sunny & joyful kind of day, my friends, thanks so much for visiting today !!! xoxoxo

PS : the four mini felt pics were received & very well welcomed, and the linen/red bookmark + needlebook as well !! :) So happy !!!!

  2. Beautiful photographs - yes the difference between sunlight shining is quite amazing isn't it. How wonderful to have those bright bursts into Spring, yet still the lingering Winter.
You sort of seem like Superwoman to me. I am always astounded with the new crafts you show us, as well as the fact that you are totally cleaning your house top to bottom, and you have the boys at home often too.
    Take care.

  6. Wonderful photos Sonia. And yes we adored the wonderful gifts we recieved from you. The work, the time, the love was utterly overwhelming. Truely thank you.

The daffodils are so beautiful. Such a wonderful flower, one of my favourits, we have a few popping up in the garden and I keep talking to them, warning them they are too early, lol. But they don't listen :D

I also love spring, and the fresh, new start feeling it brings.

I'll have a cup of tea with my muffin by the way :) And if you ever feel like nipping over to London for a day visit from Paris before you move I would LOVE to meet up and have a proper chat, and show you around. Apparently the fabric in Liberty in amazing.

Must go, I just heard a crash...I'm guessing its the Lego box in Harris' room! Love ya xxxx

  8. Sonia, the reason we keep coming back here is because YOU are so sunny and joyful!

Love the birds! And I love daffodils! I keep meaning to plant a bunch of bulbs, but every autumn miss my window of opportunity. They usually bloom in February here.

  12. there are little signs of spring if we open our eyes and look for them :) at times, they seem well hidden though! I'm noticing early flowers, the forsythia starting to flower and the bulbs are pushing green arms up through the ground. I really do love the spring. If I could fast forward over summer straight to autumn I'd be even happier about it!!!

The little birdies are very sweet. :O) Yes, you were right in your early comment to me this morning, my hands have been busy this week. I can't stop making things right now, and I've had another delivery this morning so if I go quiet for a while you know my scissors are working overtime!
    Have a lovely weekend xx
