Recap.And.Planning

Felt pancakes & butter

Sunday - We stayed home until the middle of the morning. It was sunny, though cold & windy, but the weather was nice. So we decided to go to Disneyland & have lunch there. Once there we walked around the Disney Lake & around the hotels, where my men played (the Simpsons') pinball. They really had a ball ! (no pun intended !)Disney Lake, Sunday, 11 amMy guys, playing pinball, Newport Bayclub Disney Hotel game arcade, Sunday, 11.20 am

After that we went to have lunch at Annette's Diner restaurant. (50's US style restaurant) And then we went back home. We played, a lot, Chris planned meals of the next few days & cooked, and then I sewed a gift for a friend, that I shipped this morning.Back of the tissue cozy I sewed yesterday afternoon.

I also sewed in a storm two felt pancakes & bits of butter. These are not perfect, but they were so quick & easy to make, that I still wonder why I didn't make them earlier ... I think they rather look realistic ... pancakes are like muffins, they're not all always perfect. (see what I mean ?) (you can see a pic of them at the top of this current entry) This is how I did these :

Butter
I cut 4 small pieces of yellow felt of the same size. I sewed the four layers together with the sewing machine.

Pancakes
I cut 4 circles of a beige felt. I cut 2 circles of a lighter beige felt, a little bigger. Made a sandwich of 2 beige on top, 2 lighter beige in the middle, and the last 2 beige at the bottom. I sewed the 6 layers with the sewing machine with beige thread.

Voilà ! :)

Today ~ Monday - You know what it is when you have planned things, almost for all your day ? And when something unexpected happens ? ... We brought P to school & when we brought U, other moms let me know that U's teacher was not here & not replaced AGAIN. Ugh. So I took U with me, and we went shopping for food, like I had planned. Then we went back home, I tidied all my purchases & had a cuppa. Ten minutes at the computer. I wrapped the gift I made yesterday afternoon, and finished the parcel. Then U & I went out again to go to the post office & then to two shops where I got gifts for a friend. And we finally went to pick P at school. Phew. So this afternoon U will be with me again, and I'll have him do activities, and I'll have houseworks to do too, and hope to have a tiny little bit of free time. (fingers crossed)

Week Planning - Chris is going to teach on the 29th/30th/31st, in Montpellier (south of France), he'll leave on Wednesday evening, so will leave after his work, and therefore, the boys won't see him from Wednesday morning to Sunday morning when they'll wake up. And I'll be on my own with them till Saturday night. (Chris will be back around 11pm) I think I'm going to feel for all single moms out there. I hope the boys won't be too naughty ... yeah, one can dream, right ?! Not sure to be much productive or craft efficient this week ... oh well ... I'll see. One thing I know is that I'm going to miss my Chris all these days. :(

I hope you all had a nice weekend & have started this new week on a great note ! :) Lotsa hugs oxoxo

  2. Hi Sonia,
I have some spare time as I'm off sick....unlike U's teacher, I have been replaced so the children do still have school :)
I don't think that's ever done here although it would certainly save money!
What does Chris teach? I hope the days go quickly and that the boys are on their best behaviour for you!
    Hugs x

  7. Coucou ma Sonia :-)

I hope your single mom week will work out just fine! I will be in the same situation next week, although on the other end, as I will be going to Reims for 3 days, leaving my Janne to be the single dad! I don't even want to think about how much I will be missing the girls and my Janne... sigh! I know that you, with your creativity, will make the most out of your days alone with the boys, and I am sure that you have all sorts of activities lined up for them :-)

The pancakes and butter are so neat! I bet the boys love playing with them :-)

    Sending you my throughts, Friend!
    Love and care,
    Susanne xxxx

  8. Ciao dear Sonia, I bet your single-mom-week will work out just fine! :) You have always great idea to keep U and P busy :D I'm a bit irritated today :( coz we still have major problems in sending and receiving e-mails. Besides, we also have problems with snail mail. Some of the Christmas cards we sent never reached the recipients. We also didn't receive some cards from our Italian friends. This is so annoying and frustrating! :(( I'm not sure I ever asked if you got my e-mail at last. Did you? :) Have a happy and crafty day, cara amica! ((HUGS))
