I don't think I'm the only one to think that, but it seems to me that I am doing housework all the time. And when one is finished, another appears. And a minute after you cleaned or tidied up, it's dirt & messy again. You dust & scrub & wash & fold & put in the closets, and dust falls again, dirt welcomes itself again, clothes get dirty again & need to be washed A-G-A-I-N !
As you all may know now, we're supposed to move back to the south (where we were born, raised, did our studies, married etc) next summer. July ? August ? We don't know. But, the thing is that, LESS IS MORE, and that we always have more stuff, and always less space to store it. It's almost a nightmare here. I have decided to declutter more than ever, and want to move with maybe less things than when we arrived here, in July 2007. Easier said than done, I know. But I'll do my best.
We asked the boys to ask Santa Claus "only" two presents. They are absolutely OK with that. Oh wow, so happy about that. My 4 y-o (U) showed me what he would like ... a Playmobil BIG castle. Yikes. I looked on their website yesterday evening ... 200 euros ! YIKES. This morning I looked in my supermarket, which happily carried it ... 170 euros. YIKES. But that's better already. Oh well, we'll see if he still wants it in a week or so. When he'll have to write his letter ...
We'll put our Christmas tree up on Sunday 23rd. Why ? (why that early as some of you may wonder) Because my mom will come on the 24th, and I would like everything to be ready. Last year at the same period, my little "creative space" was (almost) inexistant. This year, it's overwhelming !!! So the tree will have to be in another corner, which is going to be tricky, but we'll manage to find a way. WE HAVE TO ! LOL
Speaking of clutter & creative space, I had the sudden idea yesterday evening (yes all my ideas come around 11-12pm ahah) to move a little shelf unit (made of 3 shelves), that my mom had salvaged some years ago before retiring, and that my dad had repainted cream, from the WC where it used to reside & be almost useless, to my creative space, allowing me to store little projects in the making. DONE. Did this this morning & I'm pretty happy about that.
Little by little. One piece of cake after the other, as one of my friend would say. (wink wink Sadie) I'm going to kill that damn clutter.

Oh I love your new look! Perfect for the holidays :) I am getting into the festive spirit already as well.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are wonderful as always :) I am going to send you an email with the cinnamon rolls recipe! I keep forgetting to do so, but I'll do it now once I'm finished visiting your blog :)
Hope you are having a great week. Love & hugs xxxx
The new holiday look is great! I know what you mean about having too much stuff! I am always decluttering. We send off a couple bags of stuff to the second hand shop every month to try to keep things under control! Great new shelf... It's always good to have our own space so I am happy to hear that you will not be sacrificing it to the Christmas tree this year! Hugs xoxox
ReplyDeletechouettes tes idées de créations !
ReplyDeletej'aime beaucoup les créations de cette fille aussi : http://petitkdo.skyrock.com/
Hehe, I can understand what you mean ;) Oh, and I'm so glad to see your "freebie". I must say I miss your siggies soooo much! :( Hugs & happy evening! :)
ReplyDeleteI think the same thing about housework. It's the never ending chore. :(
ReplyDeleteI have been decluttering a lot this year. I have four more boxes of stuff to donate or giveaway. I need to get my kids to want to declutter too. But that is very difficult!
Your shelf is so lovely with your craft things all tidy. I love your felt goodies :)

ReplyDeleteFunny that we both wrote about clutter today! Your sons are brilliant to pick HUGE gifts when restricted to only two! LOL! That's exactly what I would do! (((Hugz)))
ReplyDeleteI am a list scribbler too Sonia, I always gave list floating around the house!
ReplyDeleteEeks, I know the worry of large items. I had a discussion with my MIL when she was here about that. She wanted to buy Humbug a VERY large play kitchen, but I said no. For a few reasons, I thought it was too expensive, I thought it was too big, and little one already has a small play cooker that she loves. It used to belong to my nephew K, and I'd rather get as much use out of that as possible, than having some jumbo piece of kit taking up space that we don't have and ending up living in the garage until we can throw it out. Such a waste. She was really getting insistent at wanting to buy something 'large' and I was having to say no to everything. We eventually settled on something that was not only gorgeous, but useful too. I know Humbug will love it.
well done on the organising. It's always so nice to get things orderly. I'm about to clean and declutter the kitchen, so I'm in that kind of mood too!
I know what you mean about drawing (your comment today). I am still thinking about closing Mulberry Street as I am less interested in graphics nowadays, and in all honesty, I'd rather spend any spare time I have working on projects instead of sitting at the computer. I may well close in the new year, or just wind it down and close it later on. It's too much hassle, and I've noticed that MSG mail box is getting more and more spam each day. I can do without it.
Ok, I've rambled. I must go. Have a lovely day and a great weekend.
xx
p.s just noticed the 'wink, wink'. Yep, one slice at a time. slowly but surely gets the job done! ;o) xx
ReplyDeleteAww Sonia, I try really hard to declutter, but I am just not very organised. I am excited for you to be planning a new life next summer. Moving back to where you both have memories, families and friends will be wonderful, and warmer for sure.
ReplyDeletePlaymobile is such a good christmas present, and worth every penny as it really encourages imaginative play.
Love seeing your cookies on your shelves, so clever. I may have to make some for our christmas tree. Much love ClareXXx
I say go for the Playmobil! My girls are 9 and 7 and they still love their playmobil. It keeps them entertained for HOURS at a time, and all their friends love to come play with it, too.
ReplyDeleteWe keep ours on a table (so little pieces don't get stepped on) with a big bin underneath to store what they don't have on the table. They can only play with it at the table, otherwise the little bits end up all over the house.
Happy decluttering. I have my own mound to attack over here, as my mom keeps offloading heirlooms to me as she tries to downsize from an 8 bedroom house to a 1 bedroom retirement apartment. Why do I have to be so sentimental?
Ciao Sonia! I just posted, now a quick hello to you :) to see what’s new and then I will make dinner. Just for me :( coz Zeno is still stuck in Amsterdam, sigh! Take care, have a happy evening and a lovely weekend! :) -- Kia :)
ReplyDeleteHa! I think we're living similar lives! I feel like I'm in a constant cycle of cleaning and decluttering. sigh, such is life, eh?
ReplyDeleteWishing you strength to get through it all with your sanity in tact! :D
big hugs, my sweet friend.
