Empty

My mom (and dad too) left home & must be on the train as I'm typing. Empty, I feel quite a bit empty now she's gone. I miss her tons already.
I got so much done with her ... my laundry is up to date, the appartment is top clean (as much as it can be with two little ones), and I managed to have lots of crafty little things done while she was there. Not that I started working on new projects, but I progressed in the one I had started (the little house project, let's call it like that) for instance ... I made new labels with transfert paper, and it worked rather well, can't wait to use them. I tidied up my fabrics (once again, you're never done with that ! LOL) & is slowing organising my ideas too.
While she was there, the weather, though chilly & windy, was all sunny & uplifting. And today ... just as it had been planned ... it's been raining all day long, and it's cold. Absolutely cosy, I admitt, but not really uplifting.
We also worked on making me a new handbag. I didn't want to BUY a new bag, I wanted it to fit my needs, size, shape, colors etc ... so I created the shape, size & all the rest, provided all the materials, and my mom used her technical skills to make that idea come true. Most of the bag is made with salvage fabric or bits & bobs, and I'm VERY happy about that. The plaid fabric outside was bought in Paris (Marché Saint Pierre, to be more precise) years & years ago, probably 7 or 8 years ago. The handle & button come from useless parts of a corduroy skirt I bought last year in H&M. I wanted this bag to look autumnal, a bit modern, a bit traditional, to be very practical (that's why I wanted to have one custom made), and with the help of coming (autumn themed) pins & brooches, it'll be more than perfect to me ! I can't believe today was the last day of September ... gosh tomorrow is first day of October, Christmas will arrive sooner than we think !
I hope you all had a great start to the new week. I send you all my warmest hugs, and hope you'll think about yourself this week. We women & mamas need to pamper ourselves more than we think. Do get a treat, whatever you want, but enjoy some me-time ASAP !! XOXOX

  1. Ah my lady lady, I can hear the sorrow in your words tonight, missing your mum. I'm sending you hugs babe.

    Now can I just SCREAM OUT LOUD at your B E A U T I F U L, OH SO
C O O L bag. It's going to look so good with your new coat. Ah I just love your style babe.

Take good care, call your mum later and tell her how you feel about her, I know we as mums can never tire of that, right. MUCH LOVE to you, lady lady, ClareXXX

  2. Hi Sonia! What lovely autumn photos in the post below and so nice that you accomplished so much during your mom's visit. I'm sure she loved being there with you and the family, too. I still have my Four Seasons spa gift certificate from LAST Chritmas so you can see I am terrible about pampering myself! (((Hugz)))

  3. the trouble with taking a break is having so much to catch up with! I've just been scanning down through your posts that I've missed Sonia. First of all, I must just comment about your environmental post. I wasn't having a pop at you or being funny when I said why I wasn't planning on trying out your soap washing up idea, and I wasn't being snotty in any way when I listed what I already do. Neither was I indicating that I felt you were trying to MAKE anyone else do things. I merely wanted to say that I (like you, clearly) am already making a conscious effort to be more environmentally aware in my day to day life, and agree that every little bit helps. I think that sometimes I write in such a way that you think I am making a personal attack on you, and that is not the case. I just say what I feel and I am sorry if that offends you in any way. :O) I will take more care in future in the way I say things.

Well, looks like you have been very busy lately. I'm sorry your Mum has gone. I'm sure you must miss her alot.

Autumn is certainly settling in here now too. I've been watching leaves falling and the wind is quite evil at times. I suspect you might be having the same weather as us.

I must go. Little one is asleep and I want to squeeze in some more catching up while she does so.

Have a lovely day, and enjoy the rest of your week. x

  4. Hi Sonia,
I always enjoy looking at your photos - I know you love taking them as much as I do :) I am sorry that you are missing your Mum. Mine lives so close that I don't have time to miss her (just kidding). I am glad that you got so much stuff done around the house while she was visiting.

I would also like to invite you over to join my Country Secret Santa - you can see more information about it in my post today :) Have a great day! Huggles

  5. Oh sweetheart, I am so sorry to hear your sadness. I just want you to know I think so much of you, and if you ever need me, you know exactly where I am.

    Love! Annax

.... and I can NOT wait to see your new labels!
I remember you sent me a mail with your other labels, and only now I think that I never replied to it (hits herself in head). I thought they were great too!!

I am off to hang my head in shame now....

    xx
