Are You Ready ?

(In the building's (where we live) gardens, Saturday 30th 2008)
Tomorrow being back to school day, I was again pretty busy with the boys at home. A little walk to the shop this morning, a stop at the Post Office, and we were home most of the day, which was rather grey-ish & mild. All their supplies are ready, I labelled all of them with their names & are now in their backpack for tomorrow. The boys are ready. Not unhappy, and not that happy neither.
So, here we go for the Saturday recap ... I don't have much time to spend on the descriptions, but the photos will speak by themselves (and you can see more different ones at my Flickr - link on the right, btw)
We started by going to the Parc de Bercy, (we had a latte at Starbucks there), where we saw Mr Heron in all its glory ... where we saw lots of fruits & veggies & flowers in the vegetable garden ... where we saw gorgeous roses in the rose garden ... this is really a charming place, specially in the spring & summer ...We were close to the Seine river then, and we took the Voguéo (transportation boats, brand new !) for the first time. We had lunch at a new Exki restaurant, not far from Bibilothèque Nationale François Mitterand. Then, we went to WHSmith (English bookstore) where we bought a couple of books for the boys. How much we (all four) adore to go there. We will miss that a lot when we'll have moved back to the south ... but hopefully for us Amazon exists & can ship lots of foreign books ! Phew !
Then we went to Quartier Saint Paul, where we bought (finally) all we needed in the American boutique. (maple syrup, French mustard, chocolate chips, clam chowder) Then we went to the Ile Saint Louis , then Ile de la Cité. It was really hot, that day, really too hot compared to all the other summer days !
We ended our long day in Paris in Saint Germain des Près quartier, where we decided to celebrate our 9th anniversary, with the (adorable though stressful, I have to add) presence of the boys, at the Ladurée Tearoom, rue Bonaparte. Oh my goodness, this will remain quite a memory ... we got tempted by a violet religieuse ... oh my that was so delicate & tasteful !! Next time we'll go there (because we decided to eat macarons there only ... macarons don't like very much to be transported ...), we'll try the rose one. (filled with rose pastry cream & iced with strawberry icing ... oh my oh my)
Tomorrow Chris won't go to work, he took a day off to be there for the boys' back to school day. We'll go shopping for food together, and why not, a stop at Starbucks.
Though our living room is not big (that's the least we can say), I managed to move some pieces of furnitures (read = a leather armchair, wooden child table & chair, low living-room table) and it almost makes a brand new room, I'm so happy about that !
OK, gotta go now. Have a great start to the new week everyone !! Lots of hugs ! OXOXO

  3. Bonjour ma Sonia :) Well, they say it is the little things that does it, and even the slightest re-arranging of furniture can make a big fresh change ;) Thanks so much for your recent comments, Sofia was very happy to be getting greetings from France :) We had a lovely weekend celebrating both our girls, I will be posting on that later in the week. I do not remember if I ever answered your question about Flickr, but I actually HAVE been looking into it, although I have not had the time yet to figure it out entirely... In any case, I will let you know as SOON as I am there, I promise :) I love the photos from Paris, it seems you all had a lovely (if yet a bit stressful... ) day! Those macarons sure look wonderful!! And the religieuse too, is it really as BIG as it looks? :) Last but certainly not least, I DO hope all went well for P and U today, being their first day of school and all! Looking forward to hearing all about it...
Take care now, all the best from Sweden!
    Hugs, Susanne xxxx

  4. Good afternoon, Sonia! Just popped in to see how are you & yours. Good 1st day of school to your boys! School starts on Sept. 15th in Italy, so my lil cousins have a few more days to enjoy the sun. And no, no sun in Scotland today :( We got back in Scotland 2 days ago, and I got a cold already! Oh my! Well, nothing bad, luckily, but my nose is running like crazy! :S I used 10 tissues in only 1 ½ hours. And it’s not witer yet! Argh. Sending you a germ-free hug, have a happy day!

  5. Hi Sonia! Hope the boys will like their new teachers. I'm not surprised they have mixed emotions since you make home time such fun for them. Love all the photos- especially the little hairs on the "Borage" photo. Have a great September! (((Hugz)))
