Summer Tote & Crafts

I was very happy to find these lovely wooden blocks, on sale, this morning. On the faces, you can find uppercase, lowercase, a word, a number, another word. I think they're cute & they'll be a good educational (and traditional) game for the boys. (that kind of blocks are not so easy to find in France, at least so well made)It was hard to know that it was a summer day today ! It was so cold, and it rained almost all day long ! I even saw people in the street with autumn jacket ! Eeek !
So ... I helped Chris with making his luggage & other stuff & he left this morning. He's already in Corsica as I'm typing, he phoned me to let me know he had arrived safe & sound. So, today we had to keep the boys busy AND had to get some things done. I must admitt my mom had ironed (thanks mom !), and I did lots of other houseworkds, and went shopping wisely for food(as there are only 5 or 6 days left till we'll leave & I don't want to throw too much). We did lots of crafts with the boys ... here are some of the things we did :Yep, we've been trying to teach them how to stitch. The VERY basics, though ! LOL We'll do it again several times this week !Still craft-speaking, here is the finished (but not ironed on the photo, eek !) summer tote that my mom & I made together. I hand embroidered a remnant of linen for a matching pouch we made (the lining is linen, but not the tote's) with the word ... SUMMER, of course ! We used some parts I had salvaged on yucky bags, and now they're in full use to keep the tote & pouch united. I'm VERY happy with it/them & can't wait to make another one with another color !!Now, if all that yellow could make the sun come back !!! LOL I hope so !

PS: yesterday I figured out how to insert (in this blog) photos uploaded on Flickr (yeah, I know, probably everyone already knew how to do that !), so that's good news because it means that I will be able to post entries WITH photos, even on vacation !! Yeah ! (yeah, don't fall from your chair neither !)
