Summer In Children Books

Last Monday & last day of June ... ALREADY ! Goodness, June was such a busy AND happy month ! Lots of happenings (birthdays, 1st lost tooth ... for instance), lots of crafts (for me, yeah !) ... a good month indeed ! I hope it was just as great a month for you all as it was for us. :)
I had a bit of fun looking for pictures of summer fav' in my children books ... so here are some of my picks :Aren't they all wonderful ? Love them all ! Hanging the laundry to dry outside ... berries ... games on the beach ... pretty wildflowers ... baking yummy summer dishes with summer food (such as strawberries ... mmm)
Nothing much to blog about. I went shopping for food twice today as what I had to buy was too heavy & too voluminous for me to bring in a single time. (I go shopping by foot ...) I had hoovered before bringing the boys to school, and then I also hoovered under our bed (where there's carpet) & dusted everything (we store things below, by lack of room elsewhere ... the joys of living in an appartment !) I reorganized & also stored the boys' duvet (that I removed this weekend when I changed their bed linen) in a special cover & put them under the bed too. This past weekend, I had also reorganized our bed linen. I removed the automnal & winter/Xmas looking ones (mostly brown/rust/orange/linen, and red ones ... but I don't have millions of them neither !) I left the springy/summery looking ones in the closet. (flowers, lots of blue, lots of pink) It feels good to (re-/)organize & I hope to have a bit more done when my mom will here. (she'll arrive on Thursday morning, on the boys' last day of school)
OK, have to go now. U is waiting for me & my attention. I hope you all have a great last day of the month & I wish you all great start to the new week !

  2. Hi Sonia! Beautiful illustrations! Do you know about the Caldecott Medal? It's awarded annually to the best illustrated American children's books. It's been going on since the 1930's. You might do a search for Caldecott Medal Winners to find wonderful books. Hope you have a wonderful week ahead! (((Hugz)))

  6. Lovely illustrations Sonia, the bottom one looks like Bramble Hedge? I used to collect those books and have them tucked away somewhere along with lots of other books I bought purely for the illustrations. Two of my favourites are Nicola Bayley and Michael Hague, both worth googling if you don't know them already :)
