Yeah, I had the joy to have my last crown fixed this morning. Fun NOT. But certainly funnier than what expects me on Friday. I'll have my gingiva cut to go have a hole made into the bone & a titanium kind of screw that will play the role of an artificial tooth root. That's all it takes to have a dental implant made. Oh my goodness. I have antibiotics & anti-inflamatory drugs to take from the day before and for several days. Oh well.
Other than that, U (my son born in August 2004) has been feverish since yesterday afternoon so after a not very good night, I didn't bring him to school. But Chris had to take this morning off to allow me to go to the dentist (having my crown installed).
This is my computer table, this afternoon, without a printer yet, as we still haven't bought it. On Friday or Saturday I think. The frame, which is at the printer's place at this time, is filled with a GORGEOUS watercolor that the very talented Anna from Lillan & Lilalotta on Etsy. Thanks sooooo much again & again Anna, for this gorgeous gift, that came along with a very beautiful print I already framed, and adorable glow-in-the-dark stickers for the boys !
This other pic shows little glass yoghurt pots that I used as candle holders yesterday evening, on the balcony. Our balcony is absolutely NOT charming and is 11 meters long X 1 meter wide. That is to say that you can't do anything on it. I haven't even had the patience to make something grow on it, as we'll be leaving this place in a little more than a year ALREADY. Sure time flies ! So ... yesterday evening, once I realized that I was inviting bugs inside by leaving my french windows open, I put the candles inside. Hence the photo. Now, I realize that all these candles sure could have been used in memory to all the Chinese people who died in this awful earthquake. :( May they all rest in peace.
Wishing you a nice middle of the week ... on this quite sad note, I'm sorry. Carpe Diem, my friends, OK ? OXOXOX
PS : oh, thanks for the muffin love ... sorry I still haven't finished to translate it. But in the meantime, here is the recipe to my, ahem, Very Famous (ahah) Cheddar Muffins :
SONIA'S CHEDDAR MUFFINS
Serves : 6 large muffins or 12 mini-muffins
-----------------------------------------------------------------
110 g ~ 3,88 ounces (wheat) self-raising flour
60 g ~ 2,11 ounces (wheat) flour (I used organic type T80)
a pinch of salt
200 g ~ 7,05 ounces cheddar (I used mature)
1 egg
125 ml ~ half a cup milk
60 g ~ 2,11 ounces melted butter
poppyseeds
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Preheat the oven at 200/220°C ~ 400/425°F. Either grease your muffin molds with melted butter or oil, or don't grease it, if you own a flexible mold like I do. I have a Flexipan mini-muffin mold. (non-sticky kind of mold) In a large bowl, sift the two kinds of flour & the salt. Mix in with the cheddar that you will have gratted beforehand.
Whip the egg with the milk. Mix in with the dry ingredients (flour + salt + cheese) with a metal spoon, but DO NOT knead too much. Melt the butter & mix it in, still NOT kneading much. The dough must be irregular & full of lumps ! The success of making muffins resides in making the dough very irregular & not kneading it much !
Fill your molds (3/4 of each - to let the muffins rise) with a teaspoon (easier). Sprinkle poppyseeds on the top of each muffin & put in the oven for 20 mn [maybe less if your oven is powerful !] (200/220°C ~ 400/425°F) until a skewer/knife hammered inside a muffin goes out totally dry & clean.
If you plan to freeze some of them, I'd advice you not to let them bake too much. (just from experience) Let the muffins cool down for 5 mn, then eat them all !

Hi Sonia! I'm glad you're nearing the end of your dental work. I've had several crowns so I guess I'm royalty, too. ;) Hope Umberto feels better. (((Hugz)))
ReplyDeleteOooh no, dental work is never a joy.
ReplyDeleteI had my first ever crown done just before I moved to France (!!) Literally on my last day in England. And I was in utter agony for the week after. Ofcourse I panicked because I would be in France, and not having a dentist there... argh. Thankfully the pain subsided and everything is fine now (knock wood!)
I was never given any medication though, not during the treatment or after. It was all done without any form of painkillers.... :O Awful.
Thank you so much for including the recipe. I will jot it down and when I can make them soon I will make a picture and put it on blog.... hehe... even when they have failed :)
So glad you liked my wee package :) Avec plaisir!
(that is about the only french I know :))))
I am making lots of other fabric-y goodness for my shop, and hope to include them soon... Ofcourse I will sent you some goodness in the mail then.
So sorry to hear you little boy is not well (sending big hugs!) My Luka has been complaining about the sniffles and a tickly cough. Thankfully no raised temp though. I hope your little boy will be better soon.
Sending hugs all around, from my family to yours!
